30 Day Extensions Must Be Requested
• Request by letter indicating the reason for the delay must be
received by January 31st for extending the date to furnish
employees.
• Request must be requested by individual EIN
• Request for extension of the IRS filing date can be done on Form
8809 submitted electronically or on paper.
• IRS extension must be received by April 2, 2018
• An optional additional 30 day extension of the IRS deadline can
be requested and may be granted based on extenuating
circumstances.

Keep in mind, however
The IRS will not accept the electronic tax return until the taxpayer
indicates whether
• they had coverage,
• had an exemption or
• will make a shared responsibility payment.
Returns filed on paper that do not address the health coverage
requirements may be suspended pending the receipt of additional
information and any refunds may be delayed.

inaccuracies.

1. Run MWA Data Comparison Report and correct any errors.
2. Run other report andor create list of eligible employees by month
3. Confirm MWA benefits setup for 2017
4. Create forms in MWA and export to Aatrix
5. Complete Aatrix wizard
6. Review forms for employees who changed status during the year
7. Complete Wizard and file with Aatrix andor Print forms.

Waived Coverage
• No specific code to enter on Form
1095-C if an employee has waived
coverage.
• Recommended to complete line 16
with a safe harbor code, if any
applies.

• Affordability percentage for 2017 is 9.69% (2018 = 9.56%)
• The Federal Poverty Line Safe Harbor maximum monthly employee
contribution for 2017 is $95.93.
• Failure to file a correct return is $260 per return. Special rules apply for
penalties due to intentional disregard.
