AGENDA
7. I-9 Review Requirement Changes - Effective May 1st
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that it will relieve employers
from having to review Form I-9 documents in-person with new employees. The change applies
to employers and workplaces that are operating completely remotely. Physical Documentation
review will not be excused if the employee is working onsite. Makes sure to document.
Once normal operations start up again all employees onboarded using remote verification must
report to their employer within three business days for in-person verification of their identity and
eligibility documentation. When the documents have been physically inspected, make sure to
update the files to read "documents physically examined" with the date of inspection in the
Section 2 additional information field.
These changes willbe ineffectuntilMay19th orwithin3days ofthe NationalEmergencybeinglifted.

Editor's Notes
We live in a world of instant access. I can be traveling in a new city, find a restaurant that serves Thai food, check reviews and the menu, book a table, and then get directions – all within minutes from my phone. And this isn’t even surprising; it’s just what we all expect.
It’s important to have a plan in place to pay employees if a disaster strikes
Payroll is a critical business process
Planning is a key part of payroll operations to ensure the accuracy and timely processing of employee paychecks.
Getting employees the money that they earned in a timely and efficient manner can go a long way toward helping them recover and contribute to the organization's success.
EFMLA - Certain employers fewer than 50 employees, healthcare, emergency responders could be excluded
Paid leave – first 14 days may be unpaid, then yes
