Once again, ladies and gentlemen, good evening.
Tonight we are to discuss
1. LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a semiconductor device that produces a range of visible light when an electrical current passes through it
2. Semiconductors are materials with ability to conduct electrical current
1. Incandescent Lamp – heats up a thin wire to produce light
2. Compact Fluorescent Lamp – dissolves mercury to produce light
3. LED Lamp – uses a semiconductor diode to produce light

Thermal Management – conducts heat away from the LED using a heat sink and then moves it away from the lamp.
Driver – an electronic device that provides the correct current and voltage to the LEDs for proper operation.
Array - an array is composed of several chips or emitters, mounted to a printed circuit board to emit light.
Optics – May be a lens, diffuser, reflector or a combination. Can be made of glass or plastic. Efficiently distributes the light coming from the LEDs.
