SUMMARY
• Chanakya’s 7 secrets of leadership is written by Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, who
is known for author, researcher, trainer and trainer followed by an IPS officer
(Retired Commissioner General of Police). In this book, Dr. Pillai has Taken
ancient time Chanakya’s concept (Sutras) and relates those to Present time
leadership concept and explains those with best practical example both from
management as well as from police department.

CHANAKYA
• Chanakya was also known as Kautilya, who was specialized in various fields
like management, economics, politics, law leadership, warfare, military tactics,
finance etc.
• He was responsible for establishing Mauryan dynasty and he is also credited
with masterminding the defeat of Alexander the great in India. For the first
time, only Chanakya was there who visualized the concept of the “Nation”. He
brought the small – small part of the Aryavarth (India) together under one
central government.
SWAMI (THE KING OR THE LEADER)
• This explains about the leader which will be chosen a good or bad leader
and how a leader deals with the various situation in an organization with an
example of practical life.
AMATYA (MANAGER)
• In this chapter there is explained about the importance of Amatyas (manager)
who is assigned various – different department with skilled people to assist
the leader or advise him.
JANAPADA (CITIZEN OR CUSTOMERS)
• In this chapter there is explained about the citizen of the country or the
customer of an organization according to this chapter, The CEO of the
company or of an organization should focus on the happiness of the customer
and he need to keep his organization’s stakeholder happy and delighted.
DURG (INFRASTRUCTURE)
Durg defines the infrastructure that should be created for the growth of a
project. World class facilities should be the norm of the day, and no compromise
must be made in that regard. Whenever required, one should also be open to
inputs and assistance from others, as that might make reaching the target
quicker and in a more effective manner.
KOSHA (FINANCE OR TREASURY)
Kosha speaks of financial management, and how it is a key ingredient for any
project. Long term investments should be considered, as that would yield more
fruitful dividends. Creation of funds is importance, and so is the maintenance.
DAND (THE ARMY OR THE TEAM)
• Dand refers to teamwork, and how people should be inspired to do their job
in the best possible manner. Training should be provided that would help the
team members in building their competency, and deserving candidates
rewarded.
MITRA (CONSULTANT)
• Creating a network of friends encompass Mitra. Meetings should be
organized, and inputs taken to formulate the strategy. Also, one needs to help
friends when they are in need, as they are a vital part in the chain.
