2. COMPUTER SOFTWARE
• As the new technology evolves, new inventions of computer software began to
expand.
• Computer software, or simply software, is a collection of data or computer
instructions that tell the computer how to work. This is in contrast to physical
hardware, from which the system is built and actually performs the work.
• The three types of computer software are system software, programming software
and application software.

3. SYSTEM SOFTWARE
• System software is software designed to provide a platform for other software.
• Examples of system software include

• Programming software is a software which helps the
programmer in developing other software
• Compilers, assemblers, debuggers, interpreters etc. are
examples of programming software.

5. APPLICATION SOFTWARE
• Application software (app for short) is software designed to perform a group of
coordinated functions, tasks, or activities for the benefit of the user.
• Examples include a word processor, a spreadsheet, an accounting application, a web
browser, an email client, a media player, a file viewer, an aeronautical flight
simulator, a console game or a photo editor.
