 Paper 1 – Listening [ Kemahiran mendengar]
 Paper 2 – Reading [ Kemahiran membaca]

Assessment overview
 Paper 1 [Approximately 50 minutes] Listening 25%40 marks
Candidates listen to a number of recordings &answer multiple-choice and matching
questions.
 Paper 2 [1 hour Reading 25% 45 marks ]Candidates read a number of texts and answer multiple-
choice and matching questions as well as questions requiring short answers
 Paper 3 [Approximately 10 minutes Speaking 25% 40 marks ]Candidates complete one role play
and conversations on two topics.
 Paper 4 [1 hour Writing 25% 45 marks ] Candidates complete one form-filling task, one directed
writing task and one task in the format of an email/letter or article/blog.
Paper 1 – Listening
[ Kemahiran mendengar]
 Paper 1 Approximately 50 minutes Listening 25% 40 marks
 Candidates listen to a number of recordings and answer multiple-choice
and matching questions. Externally assessed
 37 question [estimate]
 6minute transfer time
 Candidates hear each recorded text twice. At the end of the test candidates will be
asked to transfer their answers onto the separate answer sheet.
 Short text , announcement , conversation. Dialogues, broadcast,
interviews, simple transaction, direction, phone messages, every day

Topic areas
Candidates will be required to show knowledge and understanding of the broad topic areas listed
below.

Candidates will be required to show knowledge and understanding of the broad topic areas
listed below.

different person, on a common theme) and

Questions 29–34 Assessment objective L2, L3, L4 Task Candidates listen to a dialogue
(conversation, discussion or interview) and answer six multiple-choice questions with four

Questions 35–37 Assessment objective L2, L3, L4 Task Candidates listen to a
conversation/discussion or interview. In each question there are five options and candidates
must select the two options which are true. Text types Conversation, discussion or interview

Paper 2 -Reading and comprehension
(Membaca dan pemahaman)
 Reading is tested as a discrete skill, focusing almost entirely on explicit meaning. This
paper consists of six groups of questions, each comprising a number of multiple-choice
and matching questions, as well as questions requiring short answers
 Section 1 (15 marks) • Exercise 1 (5 marks): candidates read a series of short notices,
signs, instructions, messages, advertisements, etc. and answer multiple-choice questions.
 Section 2 (15 marks) • Exercise 1 (5 marks): candidates read a short text in the form of a
brochure, guide, etc. Questions are objective and test the main points and specific detail.
 Section 3 (15 marks) • Exercises 1 and 2 (15 marks): candidates read two longer, more
complex texts. Questions test general and specific comprehension.
Paper 3 – Speaking ( Pertuturan)
Role play & General conversation
 Approximately 10 minutes (plus 10 minutes of preparation time), 40 marks
Each speaking test lasts approximately 10 minutes, and is structured as
follows:
 • a warm-up section which is not assessed (approximately 30 seconds) • one
role play – candidates respond to five transactional questions to, for example,
accomplish a task or obtain goods or services (approximately two minutes)
 • two topic conversations – candidates respond to questions on each topic to
share views, opinions and experiences (four minutes per topic conversation).
Structure of the speaking test The structure is as follows:

 Role play approximately 2 minutes Candidates respond to transactional questions to, for
example, accomplish a task or obtain goods/services.
 Topic conversation 1 : 4 minutes Candidates respond to questions on one specific sub-
topic from Topic Area A or B to share views, opinions and experiences.
 Topic conversation 2: 4 minutes Candidates respond to questions on one specific sub-
topic from Topic Area C, D or E to share views, opinions and experiences.

Tanya soalan – soalan berikut:
1) Apakah makanan kesukaan anda?
2) Siapakah yang memasaknya?
3) Sebutkan bahan – bahan utama untuk memasak makanan kesukaan
anda.
4) Mengapa anda suka makan makanan tersebut.
5) Pada pendapat anda adakah makanan kesukaan anda tergolong dalam
makanan sihat?
General Conversation 1
Pakaian
Tanya soalan-soalan berikut:
1 Biasanya, apakah yang anda pakai ke sekolah?
2 Berikan gambaran tentang pakaian kegemaran anda.
3 Ceritakan tentang pengalaman membeli belah terakhir anda.
Apakah pakaian yang anda beli? Soalan-soalan alternatif (jika perlu): Apakah pakaian
yang anda beli baru-baru ini? [BERHENTI SEBENTAR] Di manakah anda membelinya?
4 Apabila anda dewasa, adakah penting untuk anda membeli pakaian yang mengikuti
perkembangan fesyen? Mengapa?
5 Pada pendapat anda, apakah kebaikan dan keburukan memakai pakaian seragam
sekolah? Soalan-soalan alternatif (jika perlu): Apakah yang anda suka dan tidak suka
tentang pakaian seragam sekolah anda?
General Conversation 2
Paper 4 – Writing( Penulisan)
 1 hour, 50 marks All candidates must attempt both sections. Answers written in any
language other than that being tested are ignored. Section 1 (20 marks) • Question
1 (5 marks): candidates are required to write a series of single words linked to a
topic
 Suggestions to help the candidate (in the form of pictures) are provided on the
question paper, but any words relevant to the topic that are produced by the
candidate in the examination will be considered for reward.
 Question 2 (15 marks): a directed writing task. 80-90 [100] words in total are
required. 10 marks are available for Communication and 5 marks for Language.
 Section 2 (30 marks) • Question 3 (30 marks):
 candidates are offered a choice of three tasks (an email/letter, an article, and a
narrative) and must complete one of these. 130–140 words in total are required. 10
marks are available for Communication, 10 marks for Accuracy of Grammar and
Structures and 10 marks for Range, Variety and Appropriateness.
 Candidates are expected to communicate accurately and should make use of a wide
variety of idiom, vocabulary and structure and refer to past and future events

Assessment overview  Paper 1 [Approximately 50 minutes] Listening 25%40 marks Candidates listen to a number of recordings &answer multiple-choice and matching questions.  Paper 2 [1 hour Reading 25% 45 marks ]Candidates read a number of texts and answer multiple- choice and matching questions as well as questions requiring short answers  Paper 3 [Approximately 10 minutes Speaking 25% 40 marks ]Candidates complete one role play and conversations on two topics.  Paper 4 [1 hour Writing 25% 45 marks ] Candidates complete one form-filling task, one directed writing task and one task in the format of an email/letter or article/blog.

  • 10. Paper 2 -Reading and comprehension (Membaca dan pemahaman)  Reading is tested as a discrete skill, focusing almost entirely on explicit meaning. This paper consists of six groups of questions, each comprising a number of multiple-choice and matching questions, as well as questions requiring short answers  Section 1 (15 marks) • Exercise 1 (5 marks): candidates read a series of short notices, signs, instructions, messages, advertisements, etc. and answer multiple-choice questions.  Section 2 (15 marks) • Exercise 1 (5 marks): candidates read a short text in the form of a brochure, guide, etc. Questions are objective and test the main points and specific detail.  Section 3 (15 marks) • Exercises 1 and 2 (15 marks): candidates read two longer, more complex texts. Questions test general and specific comprehension.

Paper 3 – Speaking ( Pertuturan) Role play & General conversation  Approximately 10 minutes (plus 10 minutes of preparation time), 40 marks Each speaking test lasts approximately 10 minutes, and is structured as follows:  • a warm-up section which is not assessed (approximately 30 seconds) • one role play – candidates respond to five transactional questions to, for example, accomplish a task or obtain goods or services (approximately two minutes)  • two topic conversations – candidates respond to questions on each topic to share views, opinions and experiences (four minutes per topic conversation).
  • 12. Structure of the speaking test The structure is as follows:  Task Duration Task focus Preparation time 10 minutes Greeting (non-assessed) approximately 30 seconds  Role play approximately 2 minutes Candidates respond to transactional questions to, for example, accomplish a task or obtain goods/services.  Topic conversation 1 : 4 minutes Candidates respond to questions on one specific sub- topic from Topic Area A or B to share views, opinions and experiences.  Topic conversation 2: 4 minutes Candidates respond to questions on one specific sub- topic from Topic Area C, D or E to share views, opinions and experiences.

  • 16. Paper 4 – Writing( Penulisan)  1 hour, 50 marks All candidates must attempt both sections. Answers written in any language other than that being tested are ignored. Section 1 (20 marks) • Question 1 (5 marks): candidates are required to write a series of single words linked to a topic  Suggestions to help the candidate (in the form of pictures) are provided on the question paper, but any words relevant to the topic that are produced by the candidate in the examination will be considered for reward.  Question 2 (15 marks): a directed writing task. 80-90 [100] words in total are required. 10 marks are available for Communication and 5 marks for Language.
  • 17.  Section 2 (30 marks) • Question 3 (30 marks):  candidates are offered a choice of three tasks (an email/letter, an article, and a narrative) and must complete one of these. 130–140 words in total are required. 10 marks are available for Communication, 10 marks for Accuracy of Grammar and Structures and 10 marks for Range, Variety and Appropriateness.  Candidates are expected to communicate accurately and should make use of a wide variety of idiom, vocabulary and structure and refer to past and future events
