2. So, What is Sting?
 It is a deceptive way to track the truth behind
any particular issue or to catch a person who is
doing something wrong to common people,
wrong to government, wrong to any thing
which is beneficial for the society. It is
sometimes even done on suspect basis
 It has long history in US ,being legal* their
 It is illegal or not permitted in the countries
like Sweden.

3. Purpose Of Sting
 Investigation
 To collect the evidence
 Prevention of specific crime to happen
 Revealing factual data
 Revealing scams
 To investigate faults in public sector schemes
 To know the implementation of any particular
scheme
 To see allotment of funds etc.

4. But, Broadly we can come to a
solution that Sting is all about
“Investigation”;
not “investigation” is all about Sting.

5. Investigation is of three types;
 Open camera investigation
 Documented investigation
 Hidden camera investigation

6. Open Camera Investigation
 Public knows about shooting
 No secrets being reserved by camera crew
 Questions being asked from random
personalities
 Likewise; crime news, hospital news etc.

7. Documented Investigation
 Depends upon lysning to prominent
personalities
 Camera is open to all
 Generally for office bearers
 Demands documents from government officials

8. Hidden Camera Investigation
 All about secrecy
 What we call is Sting Operation is Hidden
Camera Investigation
 Need full precautions
 Need large number of small sources.

9. How can you do Sting?
 Research is must
 You should know every single tactics to trap
the source
 Be cool and calm
 Don't think much about threat of being caught
 Be confident, not the over one!
 Back up plan is must
 Evidence of criminality is must

broadcasting bill.

 Sting operation by Jindal Group delegates
 Sting on two editors, Sudhir Choudhary and
Sameer of Zee news
 Two were arrested by Delhi Police for
allegedly demanding Rs 100 crores to drop
news report accusing Jindal and his company
for alleged involvement in the coal block
allocation scam

22. Casting couch exposed by India TV
 India TV exposed actors Shakti Kapoor and
Aman Verma
 Both were allegedly involved in seeking sexual
favors from struggling actors
 India TV sent an undercover agent as
struggling actor to do Sting Operation
 Shakti Kapoor was caught on tape seeking
sexual favors from actor.

23. Young girl bursts women trafficking
nexus.
 Soumya Pathak, Rachel Morgen, Manish
Swarnkar carried out this Sting
 Exposed women trafficking nexus in
Forbeasganj in Araria district of Bihar
 Sting showed how girls being forced into
Prostitution
 Sting forced police to act and rescue more than
dozens of girls
 Arrest of pimps and other involved in nexus
were made.

 Sting named as “Operation Kalank” in Gujarat
 Sting by Ashish Khaitan
 Secretly recorded in the camera the confession
of 2002 communal riots in Gujarat along with

26. “Operation karaoke” by Cobra post
 Sting operation by cobra post senior editor Asit
Dixit
 Sting on bollywood celebs allegedly
demanding money for political campaign for
any particular political parties
 Prominent stars like Jackey Sherrof, Sonu
sood, Ameesha patel, and 41 stars were caught
on hidden camera
 Some of them demanded more than 2 crores of
rupees for such type of political campaigning.

 Sting by Pushp Sharma
 Sting on various print, electronic and social
media platforms
 27 media houses were targeted
 Pushp offers of promoting Hindutva
advertorials for huge sums of money
 Many media houses agreed to promote
hardcore Hinduism through their respective
media houses.
