2. WORK EXPERIENCE
Presently working with SSGC as Dy. General Manager/Head of Department
(Measurement – Transmission).
Here my responsibilities mainly include following functions.
1. Leading a team of about 80 engineers & technicians posted at multiple
locations in Sindh & Baluchistan Province and to manage to achieve planned
tasks done by the staff through their seniors / sectional heads.
2. Manage to provide required man & machine resources at all job sites so as to
complete assigned tasks within budget & agreed timelines.
3. Keep all down the line teams / staff motivated & focused so as to get out best
from them to achieve desired results.
4. Keeping close coordination / communication with multiple departments and
all levels so that permissions / approvals are obtained in time for smooth
workflow.
5. Responsible for witnessing of Fiscal Gas Meters of our gas supplier
companies to make sure they are working accurately and SSGC is being
invoiced correctly in terms of volume & energy. There are 26 Points of
Delivery (POD) at which gas enters in the transmission pipelines of SSGC.
These Point of Delivery Meter Stations range from just 2 MMSCFD to giant
400 MMSCFD Stations and operate under different Gas Sale Purchase
Agreements (GSPA).
6. Responsible for operation , maintenance, calibration / validation of Check
Meters ( Gas Meter Stations owned & operated by SSGC and installed just
down stream of POD Meters ).
7. SSGC is owner operator of two pipelines which transport gas for an other
company under Gas Transport Agreements ( GTAs ). These lines transport
about 100 MMSCFD Gas and I am responsible for operation & maintenance
of Gas Meter Stations at entry & exit points and reconciliation of gas received
& re-delivered in terms of volume & energy to raise tariff invoices as per Gas
Transportation Agreements.
8. SSGC is in agreement with a company, which is entitled to extract Liquefied
Petroleum Gas ( LPG ) from the gas flowing in one pipeline segment of
SSGC. I am responsible for operation , maintenance of Gas Metering Stations
installed to measure gas volume & energy exiting from SSGC network &
entering back into it, so as to invoice them for energy shrinkage. About 250
MMSCFD Gas is metered at these stations.
9. Responsible for operation & maintenance of 120 Meter Stations where, gas is
taken out of Transmission Pipelines for supply to cities, towns, industrial
customers and power plants.
10. Responsible for preparation of reconciliation statements for all the gas entries
& deliveries on the entire Transmission Network.

3. 11. To work as technical authority for sizing & selection of metering systems &
technologies for transmission metering. Presently, following type of metering
equipments are being used.
12. Orifice Meters, Turbine Meters, Ultrasonic Meters & Rotary Meters, Gas
Flow Computers, Electronic Gas Volume Correctors, Gas Chromatographs,
H2S Analyzers, Moisture Analyzers etc. We are using various brands for
these equipment including, Fisher, Daniel, Sansus, Mercury, Dresser, Romet,
Bristol, Ametek, Control Micro, ABB & Envent etc.
13. To develop & keep them up-dated Technical Specifications for gas
measurement & allied equipments, prepare cost estimates for measurement
projects, initiate procurement process, Technical Evaluation & Approval of
received bids. Inspection of Material to confirm the delivered goods are as per
ordered specs.
14. Prepare Operation & Maintenance cost estimates and proper utilization of
available resources for smooth functioning of the department.
15. To mange a pool of 80 Engineers & Technicians stationed at 09 Strategic
Locations on 3500 Kilometer Pipelines, to execute all of the above referred
jobs.
16. Training & Development and performance appraisal of down the line
engineers & staff is also my responsibility.
17. In addition to my above job responsibilities, I regularly conduct Training
Courses at SSGC Gas Training Institute on following subjects. Fiscal Gas
Measurement, Pipeline Valves & Actuators, Pipeline & Plant Instruments.
18. Recently Pakistan has started importation of LNG. I am responsible for
witnessing & verification of volume & energy delivered to our company by
our LNG re-gasification service provider under LNG Services Agreement.
19. To participate in negotiations for Gas Sale and Purchase Agreements between
SSGC & Gas producers.
PREVIOUS JOB ASSIGNMENTS.
From 2002 – 2010
I was head of Pipeline Instrumentation Department & was responsible for
following jobs.
1 - Operation & maintenance of about 240 Mainline Valves Local & Remote
Operated from central control room through SCADA, installed on about
3300 Kilometers of high pressure gas pipelines of 12, 16, 18, 20 & 24 inch
diameters.
2 – Operation & Maintenance of more than 30 pipeline inter-connect & pressure
regulation stations spread on entire transmission network.
3 – Design & installation supervision of Gas Pressure Regulation &Measurement
Stations.

4. 4 – Operation & Maintenance of about 120 Gas Pressure Regulation Stations for
gas supply to towns, industrial customers & power plants.
5 – I managed a project in which 20 Nos. 18 Inch ANSI-600 Manual Pipeline
Valves were retrofitted with Gas Over Oil Actuators to make these valves remote
operable from central control room through SCADA. This job included
preparation of Project Proposal & Cost Estimate, Preparation of Technical
Specification & Invitation to Bid Documents, Technical Evaluation of Bids,
Inspection of Material, Removal of Manual Gears & Installation of Actuators,
interfacing with SCADA & Testing, Commissioning & Site Acceptance. All the
jobs were carried-out in house with out any assistance from consultants or
contractors.
6 – I supervised a team of 25 Engineers & Technicians during my this job
assignment.
From 1990 – 2002
1 – Served at 850 MMSCFD Gas Sweetening & Dehydration Plant then owned &
operated by Sui Southern Gas Company.
2 – Joined this plant as a Trainee Engineer & Left as Sr. Engineer & Head of
Instrument & Controls Department.
3 – This plant consists of power generation plants, steam generation plants & gas
dehydration plants. I was responsible for operation & maintenance of all the
plant instrumentation & supervised a team of 20 Engineers & Technicians.
4 – Prepared Training Material & Conducted Many Training Courses for Plant
Operators & Instrument Technicians.
5 – Worked on maintenance , servicing and calibration of instruments of all types
used in Oil & Gas industries for measurement and control of level,
pressure, flow, temperature & online process analyzers and Boiler Process
Control & Burner Management System. I have worked on all major brands
of instruments like FISHER, ROSEMOUNT, TAYLOR, HONEYWELL,
FOXBORO, MAGNETROL, YAMATAKE , MESONEILENE,
NAKAKITA, TRACOR ATLAS ANDENDRESS – HOUSER ETC.
PROJECT COMMISSIONING EXPERIENCE:
I participated in the commissioning of following plants as a member of
Project Commissioning Team.
1 - 1991 - 130 MMSCFD Natural gas purification plant.
2 - 1991 - 165 MMSCFD Natural gas dehydration plant.
3 - 1992 - 100,000 lbs./ hr Steam Generation Boiler.

5. 4 - 1998 - 02 Nos. Natural gas purification plants of 130 MMSCFD Capacity
each.
5 - 1998 - 02 Nos. Natural gas dehydration plants of 165 MMSCFD Capacity
each.
6 - 2001 - 02 Nos. Steam Generation Boiler Plants of 150,000 lbs./hr.
capacity each along with ancillary equipment.
7 - 2001 – Worked on 02 No. 130 MMSCFD each gas purification Banks
Instrumentation Revamp project in which pneumatic field and control
room instruments were replaced with Distributed Control System.
