4. ADAPTABILITY
I don’t like to repeat success, I like to go on to other things.
Disneyland is a work of love. We didn’t go into Disneyland with
the idea of making money.
Times and conditions change so rapidly that we must keep our aim
constantly on the future.
Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as
long as there is imagination left in the world.
5. LEADERSHIP
Leadership means that a group, large or small, is willing to entrust
authority to a person who has shown judgment, wisdom, personal
appeal, and proven competence.
The five characteristics are commonly found amongst entrepreneurs. Using passion, leadership, ambition, adaptability, and innovation are what sets an entrepreneurs apart from others. Walt Disney loved drawing and photography as a child. He contributed to his high school newspaper in Chicago and took night classes at the Chicago Art Institute. Walt Disney held several art jobs after serving in the Red Cross. He then began experimenting with the camera and animation and decided to open his own animation company. He opened a company called Laugh-O-Gram and then later was forced to file bankruptcy. Then Disney went to Hollywood and created the Steamboat Willie with Disney as the voice of Mickey. Walt Disney Studios was born. Disney was the first to use television as a entertainment medium with Mickey Mouse Club and Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color. Walt then began the construction of Walt Disney World but passed away before it was complete. Disney began a legacy that still lives on today with the love for drawing and the passion to entertain others.
Innovation: Walt Disney created an empire based upon his vision. He had passion for art and went on to create an entertainment experience unlike any other. Ambition: He was positive and confident in his endeavors and truly believed he could accomplish his goals. Passion: Art was his passion. Entertaining others was his passion. His empire was built upon his love for the two.
Adaptability: Adaptability may be the best quality Walt Disney possessed. He knew in business you are never done. With constant shifts and changes he was persistent in striving for excellence in his business. He never stood still and was persistent in maintaining excellence into the future.
Leadership: Disney provided leadership within his company and within the entertainment industry. Once short films began making money, he sent artists to art school. He EMPOWERED his workers. He sent his employees to art school to improve their skills. He set new standards across the board in entertainment. He built his empire upon the EXPERIENCE.
Walt Disney used his passion for drawing and entertaining to create a legacy that still lives today. He demonstrated ambition and innovation throughout his career. Disney became a leader for other entertainers. Disney was also adaptable to stay ahead within the industry. Most importantly, Walt Disney created his legacy based on doing what he loved. Disney is a great example of a successful entrepreneur.
