Essay scoring guidelines paraphrased - scoring points

  • 1. DBQ Essay BASIC CORE Points: 1 Has acceptable thesis. Answers the prompt (as shown in the documents). 1 Addresses all the documents and demonstrates understanding of all the documents. Use all documents in your groups. 2 Supports thesis with all or all but one of the documents. In body paragraphs write one sentence for each document explaining how that document fits in the group (and answers the prompt.) 1 Analyzes point of view(attempt 3) EXPLAIN WHY the author says or writes what he or she writes. 1 Analyzes documents by grouping them in two or three ways depending on the question. Use these groups as your topic sentences to answer the prompt. 1 Identifies and explains the need for an additional document or source. Give an additional type of source that would help answer the prompt and explain why it might help answer the prompt. ----- 7 Subtotal EXPANDED CORE Points: 0 - 2 Expands beyond basic core of 1-7 points.
