Geography trip: Iceland (10th-14th February 2016)
Dear parent/ guardian,
I am writingtoyou to informyouof an excitingnew opportunitywe wouldliketoofferyour son/daughter.For
February2016 the GeographyDepartmentwill be offeringthe opportunityforupto 30 studentstoattenda field
tripto Iceland.
Thiswill be a unique tripforstudents,andwill offerthemamopportunitytoexperience the landscape and
volcanoesof the country. The studentswill complete workfocusingonhow countriescanlive with,andseek
opportunities,fromnatural hazards.
Thisvisitwill take place from10th-14th February2016 andthe cost forstudentswill be £600 (withadeposit of
£200 neededbeforethe endof the Summerterm2015, withfinal paymentneededbythe endof the Autumn
term2015). Thisvisitwill includeaminimumof:
 Return flights to Iceland fromHeathrow with British Airways.
 4 nightsfull board accommodation in Reykjavik.
 All excursionsand entranceticketson all days. This will include: entry to the Blue Lagoon
geothermalspa,a golden circle tour (inc.a visit to see geysersand the Gulfosswaterfall),South
shoretour,trip to a geothermalpowerstation,visitto ReyjkanesPenninsular,and an evening
trip to see the Northern Lights.
 Travel insurance.
The departmentexpecttohave a lotof interestinthisopportunityandwouldliketoinvite interestedparents
and studentstoan informationeveningon7thJulyto findoutmore aboutwhatthe tripincludesandtofindout
more information. Thiswill be from17:00-18:00 in the KenKirbyTheatre.
