The expedition has four main objectives: 1) Re-tracing the 1923 route across East Spitsbergen, involving nordic skiing 184 miles across the Ny Friesland Ice Cap. 2) Producing a documentary film to compare the 1923 expedition to the current one. 3) Conducting scientific research on the Ny-Friesland ice cap, including collecting plant samples and using photography to study glacial change. 4) Summiting peaks climbed in 1923 and establishing new mountaineering routes in the Stubendorff/Atomfjella range.
