I am so excited to begin this wonderful new journey with you.
My name is Chantelle Cook. I have travelled the world and been so blessed to teach art.
Originally from South Africa, I have spent the last 11yrs in the USA.
I believe that we are all artists. I am here to facilitate and support young minds to flourish
into independent, intentional artists.

QA Sidra Music Program
Ms. Merle is the Grade 2 Music Teacher.
Students will have a 50 minute lesson every
week.
The Music Program at QA Sidra is
well rounded and vibrant.
Children will learn music through:
Singing, playing instruments,
games and movement.

QA Sidra Physical Education Program
Mr. George and Mr. Sandijs are the Grade 2 PE Teachers.
Students will have two 50 minute lessons every week.
The goal of Physical Education at QAS is to promote the
development of all primary students’ physical, mental and
social well-being.
Students will be encouraged to maintain regular, lifelong
activity as a foundation for a healthy and productive life
through units of athletics, adventure challenge, games,
gymnastics, fitness, creative movements etc.

16. Drop Off and Pick up
Drop Off 6:40 AM
School starts at 7:00 AM
Pick Up 2:00 PM (Tuesday Pick Up 1:00 PM)
Please ensure that your child is picked up on time after the dismissal time.
Teachers have after school meetings and afterschool activities they must
attend.

● Students will read for 20 minutes each night for homework this year.
● There will be optional weekly homework assignments.

● This year grade 2 will use a combination of online
and hardcopy portfolios.
● Please sign up for Seesaw to receive updates
about the classroom and your child’s work.

• Bring in a small, individually wrapped healthy treat.
• Juice boxes or cans are allowed.
• Parties will be in our classroom.
• Please contact me a week prior.

for 20 minutes.

23. Health in QAS
Medical History:
• Please inform the school nurse if your child has any new or
chronic medical diagnosis, or under new medications,
surgeries, or any pertinent health information.
Medications:
• All medications must be dropped at the school nurse’s office
only by a parent or guardian.
• Students should not be in possession of or self-administer any
medication.

School Food Policy:
• For PS: the school food is highly encouraged for all students, except
who have medical reasons .
• For SS: the school food is optional.
• QAS is a “NUT FREE ZONE”: please do not send or allow your child
to bring to school or to the field trips any type of nuts (all kinds of nuts
and derivatives not only peanuts – no peanut butter or Nutella etc..).
• Students having permission to bring food from home are asked to
adhere to the no nut policy.
• For Birthday parties at school: please be sure and keep in mind that
the cake or cupcakes or any types of food served during these
occasions do not contain nuts or nuts products.

When does your child have to stay at home?
• Body temperature 37.8 Celsius degree or higher
• Flu signs (runny nose, fatigue, headache, etc…)
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Rash
• Red, itchy, and painful eyes with or without secretion
• Persistent coughing
• Live lice (if the student is not under treatment)
• Please keep your child at home until s/he remains fever-free and/or
free from any of the symptoms mentioned above for 24 hours
without the aid of medication.
