3. What is IoT
O This world is blanketed by billions of sensors,
these sensors are taking information from real
world physical objects and uploading to the
internet.
O It’s a world that is constantly changing all
around us due to these sensors and the
internet and it is called the Internet of Things
O Basically, there are billions of devices
connected to the internet which when
integrated, form an intelligent system of
systems which can share data and analyze it.

4. Trends
O From forbes “Gartner posits that this(IoT) will be
replicated both in industrial and in operational
contexts, as it will be the focus of digital business
products and processes. Embedding technology
more deeply will create touch points for users
everywhere. This will form the foundation of digital
business”
O This means that organizations are already looking for
a way to use the concept of an intelligent system of
systems in making a substantially more profitable
market.
O An interesting trend is how big IT industries are
encouraging eco system companies to build solutions
that developers need.

5. Interest Areas
O IoT may prove a tool of paramount efficiency in selecting routes for many
real time applications that are highly unpredictable. For example: vehicles
responding to an emergency may require to move faster can be re-routed
in such a way that they effect normal traffic in the least possible amount.
O A far more subtle example is a home with a lot of devices connected to
internet (thus forming a system of system) that can be able to predict your
mood based on your schedule and change the ambiance, temperature of
the room, predict the type of music you may want to listen to etc
accordingly
O Also, conservation of energy is what I feel is the best scope of IoT is. Use
of IoT in building products that are self responsive in controlling the
amount of power they use. For example remote/app controlled switches,
auto responsive lights, refrigerators being able to communicate what’s
needed via app, etc.
O I would like to learn and work on implementing IoT knowledge to conserve
energy.
