This document describes an immersive leadership program called "Campfire Conversations" held in a remote safari camp in Zimbabwe. The program is designed to help senior executives strengthen their leadership abilities through reflection, mindfulness exercises, and courageous conversations. Participants work individually with a coach and in a small group to improve emotional intelligence, decision-making, stress management, and developing a plan to enact changes upon returning home. The goal is for leaders to recharge and develop skills to introduce change, energize their organizations, and maintain resilience against a competitive business environment.
2. IMMERSIVE
PROVOCATIVE
RESTORATIVE
“ He who thinks he
is leading and has
no one following
him is only taking
a walk.”
Malawian proverb
How can you lead when
you’re always reacting?
You’re a leader under pressure to deliver. In the glare of expectation, the one
thing you want is more time. Time to drive change. Time to be the leader you
always wanted to be.
TIME TO THINK.
Leaders can only remain effective if they balance the energy they give out as
motivators and decision makers with periods of rest, reflection and renewal.
Campfire Conversations®
is an immersive and challenging program for
senior executives who wish to sustain their passion for what they do and
strengthen their power to make considered, courageous choices.
Getting away from it all in Africa provides a guaranteed opportunity to reflect
deeply on what really matters. With exclusive use of a private safari camp,
only eight participants and two facilitators, this will be an intensive, thought-
provoking and unique learning experience.
3. Out in the wild there are no barriers between
you and the wildlife. You will quickly become
more sensitive to your environment, more
aware of your part in it.
Heightening emotions and sensations allow
you to see yourself and your work in a different
light, giving you the inspiration and energy to
make changes upon your return.
“ The lion’s
power lies
in our fear
of him”
Ethopian proverb
4. DEVELOPING
COURAGEOUS LEADERS
Every day you will work on your own with
a coach and intensively with the group.
You will leave with an improved
ability to connect with others and a
willingness to be open, vulnerable and
courageous, having explored:
YOUR INNER GAME
• Examining your beliefs,
drivers and values
• Leading others by managing
your energy and mood
• Developing mindfulness and other
strategies for sustainable leadership
DEALING WITH THE DARKER SIDE
• Uncovering your conflict story
• Responding to stress and
other de-railers
• Making a habit of courageous
conversations
ENGAGING OTHERS
• Building an energizing
personal vision
• Moving yourself and others from
awareness to action
• Creating effectiveness in teams,
organisations and communities
Benefits to the
organisation
Almost two thirds of senior leaders are
viewed as “not fit for purpose” by their
direct reports. Particularly vulnerable
are those “successful” leaders who are
statistically more prone to burn out.
Employee engagement surveys further
support a picture of a leadership crisis.
This program goes to the heart of what
makes sustainable leadership. Through a
combination of one-to-one work, group
learning round the campfire and stimulating
conversations with key-note speakers,
leaders on this program will:
• Learn how to manage time and energy
• Identify true motivators and de-railers
• Deepen emotional intelligence
• Become more flexible in thinking and
responding to others
• Improve the ability to manage
conflict and stress
• Sharpen decision-making and
prioritisation skills
• Develop a clear and committed
plan of action
• Leave motivated, creative
and energized.
Today’s competitive global business environment demands resilient leaders who can apply
new strategies to introduce change, energize business, and maintain competitive advantage.
5. We have secured exclusive use of a luxurious, yet ecologically
sensitive and remote camp, allowing us to tailor the entire
