 Her career began when she started a band called the Stefani
Germanotta Band with some friends from NYU
 the band developed a small fan base and caught the eye of music
producer Joe Vulpis and the band began seeling there work around New
York. In March 2006, Gaga met music producer Rob Fusari and when the
band reached their peak she began working on solo music. Gaga
traveled daily to New Jersey to work on songs she had written and
compose new material with the music producer. Fusari compared some
of her vocal harmonies to those of Freddie Mercury. Fusari claims that
the two began dating in May 2006, and that he created the "Lady Gaga"
after the Queen song "Radio Ga Ga“
 She then recorded tracks and sent them to music industries who
responded positively due to her "unusual and provocative" performance.
 She then met the artist Lady Starlight and they began a duo pop
burlsque act. While Gaga and Starlight were busy performing, producer
Rob Fusari continued to work on the songs he had created with Gaga.
Fusari sent these songs to his friend, producer and record executive
Vincent Herbert.[39] Herbert was quick to sign her to his label
Streamline Records
 In 2008, she reloacted to LA. Her debut album ‘The Fame’ was first
released on August 19, 2008.The lead single "Just Dance", it hit the
international charts in January 2009, provoking the instant success of
the album, earning her first Grammy Award nomination and becoming
one of the best-selling singles worldwide.
How and when did Lady Gaga’s career begin?

 Lady Gaga funds her tour and costumes by herself. She has always
had the abilty and wealth to buy her outfits for herself.
 However, in 2011, Lady Gaga admitted she was left bankrupt after
spending millions on crazy outfits for her Monster's Ball tour. she was
left £1.82million in debt after the production, which ran for 18
months and 200 shows.
 She said ‘I put everything in the show, and I actually went bankrupt
after the first extension of the Monster Ball. And it was funny
because I didn't know!’ and she said 'And I remember I called
everybody and said, "Why is everyone saying I have no money? This is
ridiculous, I have five No. 1 singles" -- and they said, "Well, you're
$3m in debt.”
 Its also all funded by the selling of merchandise at her concerts and
tour tickets as well as sometimes from her record label and the
management team
 Lady Gaga’s fan base are called ‘The Little Monsters’.
While working on her second album, Gaga developed the
theme of monster to describe her inner fear (Monster of
death, alcohol, drugs) In 2009 she started using this
name during her performances and it stuck.
 It fits her fans well because they crawl and scream
during her show like monsters would do.
 She describes herself as ‘the mommy monster’ which is
effective because her fans would feel a personal
connection as she is calling herself their mother/carer.
 The symbol for her fan base is a claw hand. This is
because Gaga saw a fan in Boston greet another fan with
the claw hand, and that's when she knew that was the
"Little Monsters" symbol
 Her fans like to dress like her and wear eccentric outfits
and even recreate the ones she wears.
 Her fans love her as she has taught them to embrace
their differences, stand for themselves and be brave
 The fandom is very strong and diverse
 “What I've learned is that you really don't need to be a celebrity or
have money or have the paparazzi following you around to be
famous.”
 “Sometimes in life you don't always feel like a winner, but that
doesn't mean you're not a winner, you want to be like yourself. I want
my fans to know it's okay.”
 “I live halfway between reality and theatre at all times. And I was
born this way.”
 “So there's nothing more provocative than taking a genre that
everybody who's cool hates - and then making it cool”
 “When you're around me and really see that all I do is live and
breathe for my work, it's not strange, it's just Gaga.”
 Gaga’s outlook on the world is very down to earth. This is important
to her fans as they feel they can relate to her. Also, she is so
passionate her fans really resect this as they know she has achieved
her goal of doing what she loves. Another reason her fans love her is
because she isn't afraid to be different which makes her fans more
confident and aspire to be her
