2. When and how did her career begin?
• She was interested in music from a very young age and first performed live
at age 14 in a New York nightclub.
• She was signed to Def Jam Records in 2005 but was dropped by the label
shortly after.
• She began to perform in clubs in the New York underground scene where
she began to experiment with more eccentric fashion.
• She worked as a songwriter for Interscope records and wrote a number of
songs for artists like Britney Spears. It was here that Akon discovered her
and signed her to his own label Kon Live.

3. Who creates her outfits and tour
concepts?
• She wears a fair few designer outfits (she is particularly fond of Alexander
McQueen) but most of her outfits are made by her creative team who she
dubs The Haus of Gaga.
• The Haus of Gaga takes much inspiration from Andy Warhol’s factory, and
is a team of people being creative making costumes, props etc. They were
the ones responsible for the meat dress worn to the VMAs.
• Each of her tours are different depending on her albums, and she comes
up with the tour concept with some help from her creative team.
• The Monster Ball tour took a lot of its inspiration from Musical Theatre
and her more recent tour with Tony Bennett aimed to show a more
stripped down Lady Gaga, focusing on her talent as a vocalist.
4. How are they funded?
• The funding for Lady Gaga’s tours comes from her
earnings.
• Her first tour was paid entirely out of her own
pocket, using money she had made as a support
act and a songwriter.
• Lady Gaga puts a lot of money into her tours,
admitting that she was broke during her second
tour as she had put all her money into it. She
soon made the money back with the tour’s
success however.

• Lady Gaga’s fans are known as Little Monsters and refer to her as Mother
Monster
• Her fans are very dedicated to her and she in return pays attention to
them, one time buying pizza for fans waiting outside for her.
• She has a large LGBT+ following, particularly gay men and she herself in an
advocate for LGBT+ rights.
• A lot of her fans identify with her as she is different and promotes the
message of self love and acceptance of who you are.

• Though she has not openly expressed her political
views, many other views she holds implies she is very
liberal.
• She contributes to a number of charities ranging from
earthquake relief to AIDs charities. She even launched
her own charity, ‘The Born This Way Foundation’ which
aims to help empower youths through things like anti-
bullying programmes and self help groups.
• She is very supportive of LGBT+ rights, being a bisexual
herself and having a large gay fan base.
• She is a feminist.
8. Fan response
• Through Lady Gaga, her fans have found the
confidence to be who they want to be and love
themselves.
• Many fans who feel like outsiders have felt at home in
the community as the fan base runs a website that
other fans can join in order to communicate with each
other.

especially LGBT+ fans.
• They are very supportive of Lady Gaga and will back
