I, Mohammed Said Hamdan Al Risi (88725), have submitted this report as a
requirement from the College of Engineering. I have not received any assistance in
preparing this document except for general guidelines related to its format.
I understand that Industrial Training II involves tasks that might be beyond my theoretical
background.
I appreciate that this opportunity is given to me from the Projects Department of Sultan
Qaboos University in order to experience an environment that is similar to what I might
be working on after graduation. I understand that this opportunity involves part of the
life-long learning through the tasks assigned to me by my Industrial-Training Supervisor
in the company. I will do my best to learn and practice the professional ethics of
Engineering including (but not limited to) punctual attendance, fulfilling responsibility
(ies), learning new material, and working within a team. I do not have any objection
against using this report as a sample for accreditation or any other purpose that could

Introduction
The industrial training II component of the college of Engineering in the of Sultan
Qaboos University, department of civil and architecture engineering is to be taken in the
summer in duration of four weeks to improve the knowledge and the skills, and to face
real problems to be trained to solve these engineering problems. In the seven weeks (from
3/7/2014 to 28/8/2014), I finished my industrial summer training in the projects
department at Sultan Qaboos University, going through deferent sections for Razaz
office. There are many benefits of those trainings such as:-
 Team work.
 New deep information about civil engineer tasks.
 Special techniques in designing from experience civil engineer .
 Treatment for work stress.
 Obligation.
 Reading different drawings.
 Dealing with contractors.
 Facing real problem and treat it in professional way.

The Company Profile
RAZAZ has been engaged on several building –related Projects in Oman continuously
since 2005 . The projects have included major assignments for the Sohar development
office and Ministry of housing as well as work for private clients.
Razaz Engineering Consultancy (REC) is an independent local engineering consulting
firm which specializes exclusively in civil eng. drawings, building supervisions, quantity
survey, sub-division of plots, Perspective and models.
Razaz Engineering Consultancy (REC) currently employs over 25 qualified professional
engineers specialized in building Architects, planning and surveying. The headquarters of
Razaz are located in Muscat with 3 branches Office throughout Oman.
Razaz has three branch located in Sohar , AL-mudhaiby and Ibri, Razaz also register in
tender board with first grade civil services categories.
Razaz has extensive experience in performing assignments similar to that required for
this project. Razaz has dealt with every aspect of this project in earlier assignments
including:
 Town Planning
 Architect Engineering
 Design of building
 Monitoring and control system design
 Preparation of specification
 Analysis and evaluation of tender
 Negotiation of contracts
 Supervision of construction
 Supervision of facility start –up and testing

Responsibilities of Civil Engineer
Civil engineers are responsible to visit sites , draw sketches and design projects these
comes through steps :
1- Visit the sites
2- Draw sketches
3- Locate the columns and beams
4- Structural design
5- Visit sites continually until finish
Assigned Tasks and Technical Knowledge

In all kinds of projects, planning has a crucial role: it creates the foundation for the
project's success. This is even more emphasized in building projects, where the effects of
the work can last for many decades. In project planning both the scope and the quality
standard of the work are defined. Also an estimate of the costs as well as a preliminary
schedule is drawn up.
Project planning service starts with getting acquainted with your real estate, its condition
and history. Moreover, we define what is required: possible surveys, building plans and
authority regulations. We also conduct interviews and queries with all involved parties to

find out the needs and opinions concerning about the project. The goals of the project are
based on the interests and vision of you, the client.
Our experts support you in choosing the right construction methods by offering
comprehensive information about the methods and costs that come into question. Our
project planning service can be ordered as a separate service or as part of project
management services.
The Quantity Surveying
The Quantity Surveying Section of the Razaz Engineering Consultancy offers a high
quality range of quantity surveying services including cost and construction management
advice and assistance to Clients and to project design teams throughout Muscat (Sultanate
Of Oman).
Our primary objective and responsibility is to serve our Client's best interests in a project
development. The needs and requirements of each client and each project are individually
assessed at all stages through project development, and the service offered is appropriate
to each situation and task. Typically, we offer the following services to our Clients:
 Budget Estimate
 Costing for different design options
 Preparation of cash flows
 Cost Planning
 Preparation of tender documentation
 Tender evaluatio
 Reporting and advising on tenders
 Contract preparation and assistance

The Quantity Surveying Section enjoys continued support in the form of repeat business
from many of our Clients over a long period of time.

Conclusions and Recommendations
Training in projects department of SQU was really a very useful experience, because it
gives and covers all things about buildings construction from tenders to handing over.
My recommendation for the future trainees is that they should not fear from anything and
feel confident.
