3.  Home automation” refers to the automatic and
electronic control of household features, activity,
and appliances.
 In simple terms, it means you can easily control the
utilities and features of your home via the
Internet to make life more convenient and secure,
and even spend less on household bills.

4.  Here We will see the implementation of Smart
Home Automation System using Android
Application
 the components used are as follow
a - Android Application
b - Wi-Fi Module (ESP8266 Wi-Fi module ).
c – Arduino Microcontroller. (arduino Atmega328 ).

6. Android application in mobile sends the signal to the Wi-
Fi module which is connected to same network. Android
application has all the GUI buttons for each appliances.
Wi-Fi module receive the signal from the mobile
application and give this signal to the arduino board
for processing.
We use arduino board as controller to control all the
appliances. Relay board and Wi-Fi module is connected to
arduino board. Each command is processed by arduino
board and control the relay board for switching on/off the
appliances

7. Relay board use as electrical switches, for performing
on/off operation. Power supply is provided through the
relay board to the appliances.
Finally user can access the android application in
mobile and give command to Wi-Fi module which is
connected to arduino which can control the all
appliances.

9.  Here we are using arduino Atmega328 as a controller
 Arduino does not have any wireless connection that’s
why we are using Wi-Fi module for wireless
communication.
 ESP8266 Wi-Fi module is used for communication
between android mobile app and arduino board.
 Arduino processes the received command and control
the relay board

 We use DC motor For Actuation ,and for driving the
DC motor L2.93D motor driver IC is used.

13.  With all these pros and cons of smart homes, it will be
easier for you to decide whether you want to install this
system in your house or not. Certainly this installation
would help you to upgrade your house to a great extent. It
will increase the property price for your home hugely
 The only thing that you need to make sure is that you
choose a good company that offers this system. Ask
people who have already used this system and have
installed it in their flats in Calicut. There are quite a
number of companies that offer the smart home system
nowadays.
