The COVID-19 virus is a threat to all of humanity - and
therefore all of humanity must act to eradicate it. The
efforts made by individual countries to address it will not
be sufficient.
Even rich countries with strong health systems are under
strain.

Now, the wave of this pandemic is beginning to reach
countries already suffering from humanitarian crises
caused by conflicts, natural disasters and climate change.
These are countries where bombs, violence or floods
have forced people to flee their homes, living under

2. plastic sheeting in the open, or crammed into refugee
camps or informal settlements.
They do not have homes where they practice social
distancing or isolation.

They also lack clean water and soap to wash their hands,
as the simplest way to protect themselves from the virus.
But if the disease is severe, they have no way to reach
health care facilities that can provide them with a bed
and a respirator.
We must come to the aid of the most vulnerable - the
millions upon millions of people who have no reason to
protect themselves.
