This document describes the different types of connective tissue proper, including loose areolar connective tissue found in the skin and serous membranes, reticular connective tissue stained brown by silver, mucous connective tissue in the umbilical cord and developing teeth, and mesenchymal connective tissue present during embryonic life. It also discusses adipose connective tissue, including white adipose tissue formed of unilocular fat cells found all over the body except certain areas, and brown adipose tissue formed of multilocular fat cells and brown in color. Finally, it covers dense connective tissue with abundant fibers and few cells and matrix, including dense irregular connective tissue in capsules and dermis, and dense regular
3. 1- Loose areolar connective tissue
Structure
ALL CELLS mainly fibroblasts, fat cell, mast cell, macrophages
ALL FIBERS , collagen more than elastic and reticular fibers
Abundant watery matrix
Site
1- Skin
2- Lamina propria of the serous membranes 3Dr. M. Attia
4. 2- Reticular Connective tissue
Structure
All The CT Cells mainly Reticular Cells
All CT Fibers mainly Reticular Fibers
It is stained brown colour by silver stain
4Dr. M. Attia
5. 3- Mucous connective tissue
Structure
CT cells mainly fibroblast
CT fibers mainly collagen
Abundant jelly like matrix
SITE ( embryo)
1- Umbilical cord (wharton’s jelly)
2- Pulp of the developing teeth
5Dr. M. Attia
6. 4- Mesenchymal Connective tissue
Structure
Connective tissue cells
Connective tissue fibers
Jelly like matrix
It is present during embryonic life
6Dr. M. Attia
7. 5- Adipose connective tissue
It is mainly formed of fat cells with reticular
fibers
Represent 10-15% in male, 15-25 % in female
of their weight.
7Dr. M. Attia
8. White adipose connective tissue
Formed of unilocular fat cells
Most common type
Yellow in colour due to carotene pigments
Site
All over the body except
Eye lid
Penis
Scrotum
Auricle of the ear except its lobule.
8Dr. M. Attia
9. Brown adipose connective tissue
Formed of multilocular fat cells
less common type
brown in colour due to its high vascularity and the
cytochromes pigments
