Title Of Article: The Art of Creative Teaching Implications for Higher Education

1. Overview
This article is about a study the value of creative teaching in the twenty-first century to solve problem of
social, political and economic especially for higher education. In educational context, creativity as an area of
educational research has grown with a number of educators and researchers suggesting strategies to fostered
creativity and to discuss factors of may be obstruct or even block creative behaviours in classroom.
Based on current issues, the higher education has been criticised for ignored important of creativity rather than
fostering it, researcher and educators try to exploring the advocating nature of creativity and argue for the value
of creative teaching if they hope to graduate the future leaders of twenty-first century society
To strength their arguments, the researcher propose that it runs counter to many of the dominant influences in
current higher education learning. Over the past 50 years, their understanding of it has grown through systematic
study. Prior to this, only 0.2% of all entries in Psychological abstracts pertained to creativity. Since the
researcher have observed and analysed creativity in the subjects ranging from eminent scholars and artists to
young children and even painting elephants (Florida 2002)
According to the article, the educators should responsible of producing creative future leaders with an
increasing focus on teaching quality and developments especially in the technologies used for communicating
and disseminating information. On the creative process as a mode of being, thinking and knowing individual
basis is academics need to consider the use of partnerships or learning teams who can work collaboratively on
the assessment task. Bourner and Flowers (1997) state that the time when academics in higher education could
simply replicate the teaching methods that they experienced as students is quickly drawing to an end.
According to the author, the finding to this study, process of creative teaching is typified by experimentation,
trial and error, seemingly ever-more effort is put into planning new activities and assessment tasks, and most of
all by creativity but the possibilities are unlimited.
2. A description of the methodology
The research was held at University of Sydney, Australia, which is student of Undergraduate and
Preservice Programs, Faculty of Education and Social Work taken as experimental to observe and
analyse the value of creative teaching implications of higher education.
Purpose to this study was to exploring the subversive nature of creativity and argue for the value of
creative teaching as opposed to transmissive pedagogy and provided a number of creative mechanisms
tertiary institutions should consider if they hope to graduate the future leaders of twenty-first century
society.
The observations and analyst from differences reading and creativity in subjects ranging from eminent
scholars and artists to young children and even painting elephants and devised various tests to measure
it in those exceptional individuals with the 'appropriate’ personality traits.
The data collected of observed and analysed from reading and some from eminent scholars and artists
to young children shown the decreased the level of creativity
3. Evaluation
The author has succeeded to explained about what is definition art of creative teaching, strategies and
the important of being creative as educator should be more responsibility maintains has and will
continue to shape deep and profound shifts in the way we work, in our values, and in every aspect of
our lives.
The data presented by observation is enough to proves creativity teaching is very important to
universities and colleagues by fostering creativity in our students, besides that, educators should learn
about our own teaching and ultimately become more creative teachers.
The study is too simple with just observed and analysed from reading can give more information but
it's should be more interesting if has a survey from students or teachers.
The methods used by author is just observed should find more suitable method, such as survey,
experimental or interview maybe we can get differences explanation and knowledge about creative
teachings.
In my opinion, creative teaching is interesting topic that has different perceptions and explanations with
experiences from students or teachers because the possibilities are unlimited.
4. Discussion of implication of the study
According to the author, there is a tension between the intellectual concerns of universities and colleges
and the development of skills with which to meet the economic needs of society that creativity is often
omitted from these debates. Yet by fostering creativity in our students, we learn about our own
teaching and ultimately become more creative teachers
I am strongly agreed with this statement, Creativity involves the ability to create meaningful, new
forms. It ‘uncovers, selects, re-shuffles, combines and synthesises already existing facts, ideas,
faculties and skills’ (Koestler 1964, 120). But it also requires self-assurance and the ability to take
risks. Boden (1990) in The Creative Mind argues that creativity: involves not only a passionate interest
but self-confidence too. A personneeds a healthy self-respect to pursue novel ideas and to [ultimately]
make mistakes; despite the criticism from others. (255)
Based on current issues, the higher education has been criticised for ignored important of creativity
rather than fostering it, researcher and educators try to exploring the advocating nature of creativity and
argue for the value of creative teaching if they hope to graduate the future leaders of twenty-first
century society
In my opinion, the author should provides more observation from reading and maybe try to survey
students to know details about creativity in higher education institutions hope to produce individuals
who will succeed in our complex and rapidly changing world, valued and acknowledged as the key to
our future

  • 1. Article Review Title Of Article: The Art of Creative Teaching Implications for Higher Education To: Dr Johan@Eddy Luaran Submitted by: Thahirah Abd Rahman 2013165903 1. Overview This article is about a study the value of creative teaching in the twenty-first century to solve problem of social, political and economic especially for higher education. In educational context, creativity as an area of educational research has grown with a number of educators and researchers suggesting strategies to fostered creativity and to discuss factors of may be obstruct or even block creative behaviours in classroom. Based on current issues, the higher education has been criticised for ignored important of creativity rather than fostering it, researcher and educators try to exploring the advocating nature of creativity and argue for the value of creative teaching if they hope to graduate the future leaders of twenty-first century society To strength their arguments, the researcher propose that it runs counter to many of the dominant influences in current higher education learning. Over the past 50 years, their understanding of it has grown through systematic study. Prior to this, only 0.2% of all entries in Psychological abstracts pertained to creativity. Since the researcher have observed and analysed creativity in the subjects ranging from eminent scholars and artists to young children and even painting elephants (Florida 2002) According to the article, the educators should responsible of producing creative future leaders with an increasing focus on teaching quality and developments especially in the technologies used for communicating and disseminating information. On the creative process as a mode of being, thinking and knowing individual basis is academics need to consider the use of partnerships or learning teams who can work collaboratively on the assessment task. Bourner and Flowers (1997) state that the time when academics in higher education could simply replicate the teaching methods that they experienced as students is quickly drawing to an end. According to the author, the finding to this study, process of creative teaching is typified by experimentation, trial and error, seemingly ever-more effort is put into planning new activities and assessment tasks, and most of all by creativity but the possibilities are unlimited.

A description of the methodology The research was held at University of Sydney, Australia, which is student of Undergraduate and Preservice Programs, Faculty of Education and Social Work taken as experimental to observe and analyse the value of creative teaching implications of higher education. Purpose to this study was to exploring the subversive nature of creativity and argue for the value of creative teaching as opposed to transmissive pedagogy and provided a number of creative mechanisms tertiary institutions should consider if they hope to graduate the future leaders of twenty-first century society. The observations and analyst from differences reading and creativity in subjects ranging from eminent scholars and artists to young children and even painting elephants and devised various tests to measure it in those exceptional individuals with the 'appropriate’ personality traits. The data collected of observed and analysed from reading and some from eminent scholars and artists to young children shown the decreased the level of creativity 3. Evaluation The author has succeeded to explained about what is definition art of creative teaching, strategies and the important of being creative as educator should be more responsibility maintains has and will continue to shape deep and profound shifts in the way we work, in our values, and in every aspect of our lives. The data presented by observation is enough to proves creativity teaching is very important to universities and colleagues by fostering creativity in our students, besides that, educators should learn about our own teaching and ultimately become more creative teachers. The study is too simple with just observed and analysed from reading can give more information but it's should be more interesting if has a survey from students or teachers. The methods used by author is just observed should find more suitable method, such as survey, experimental or interview maybe we can get differences explanation and knowledge about creative teachings. In my opinion, creative teaching is interesting topic that has different perceptions and explanations with experiences from students or teachers because the possibilities are unlimited.

Discussion of implication of the study According to the author, there is a tension between the intellectual concerns of universities and colleges and the development of skills with which to meet the economic needs of society that creativity is often omitted from these debates. Yet by fostering creativity in our students, we learn about our own teaching and ultimately become more creative teachers I am strongly agreed with this statement, Creativity involves the ability to create meaningful, new forms. It ‘uncovers, selects, re-shuffles, combines and synthesises already existing facts, ideas, faculties and skills’ (Koestler 1964, 120). But it also requires self-assurance and the ability to take risks. Boden (1990) in The Creative Mind argues that creativity: involves not only a passionate interest but self-confidence too. A personneeds a healthy self-respect to pursue novel ideas and to [ultimately] make mistakes; despite the criticism from others. (255) Based on current issues, the higher education has been criticised for ignored important of creativity rather than fostering it, researcher and educators try to exploring the advocating nature of creativity and argue for the value of creative teaching if they hope to graduate the future leaders of twenty-first century society In my opinion, the author should provides more observation from reading and maybe try to survey students to know details about creativity in higher education institutions hope to produce individuals who will succeed in our complex and rapidly changing world, valued and acknowledged as the key to our future
