film touches on topics of capitalism and the differences between poor and
rich families making it appeal to an older audience rather than teens and

VIDEO GAME SCRIPT: Red Dead Redemption
Language Casual, elaborate brief descriptions of actions. Simple environment
descriptions, character names but no descriptions. The game is set during
the decline of the American frontier in the year 1911. The main character is
an outlaw who’s son and wife have been taken hostage. The description of
the environment and behavior of the characters gives an insight to the time
period this game is set in.
Format & Layout
Conventions specific to this
type of script
Courier 12 point, first page has chapter glossary and title of the game. The
script is dependent on the player as there are multiple endings to the game
meaning it can steer the story in different directions where a movie script
will generally have a three act structure.
Three-act script John needs to capture his old gang members to hand them over to the
police to see his family who are being held hostage by the government,
there are many points where this can go wrong dependent on the player
but if the game is played as it is then John was living happily with his wife
and son, they get taken hostage introducing the conflict but then he saves
them which will be the resolution.
Angle of article Theres some racism and misogyny in red dead redemption because its set
in the wild west and no one but white men had rights. This will appeal to
older white men who seek thrill from a western style game but Red Dead
Redemption can also appeal to teens to enjoy the realistic themes of
western style video games and will be interested in the plot.
Style
i.e.
single-stranded
multi-stranded
linear
non linear
Multi stranded, follows only John Marston through the main game, in
chronological order making it linear. However at the end Jack is the focus
as John dies and he can be seen burying his mother.
Type
i.e.
fiction
non fiction
Fiction as the game isn’t based on real events.
