FILM SCRIPT: Bohemian Rhapsody
Type of script: (Choose from: UK, European, World Cinema)
Language The language in the Bohemian Rhapsody script is mainly elaborate code
because it describes the characters very briefly along with the scene and
the actions that the characters do.
Format & Layout
Conventions specific to this
type of script
“On a black screen”. Scene headings are used along with the correct
capitalization, and the correct font. Speech is center aligned, and the page
number is located at the top right-hand corner.
Three-act script In the Bohemian Rhapsody script, there is a three-act structure involved.
The first plot is about how Queen met, and the band before their big break/
The second plot is focused on Queen’s popularity and fame, the troubles
and fun they go through, and how they wrote and recorded their songs that
are still popular to this day. And the third and final plot is about Freddie’s
downfall, and his death. Also, the end of the beloved band Queen.
Angle of article For Bohemian Rhapsody, people that are about middle age will probably
enjoy this film more than other age groups. Since they were young and
aware of Queen when they were younger, they were probably fans
therefore bringing on a feeling of nostalgia. People around the ages of 13-
20 will also be interested in this film, since recently, Queen has become
very popular again. Although some specific ages will really enjoy this film
and appreciate the nostalgia, young children will probably not appreciate it
as much, as they will want to watch things that appeal to them and what
they are interested in.
Style
i.e.
single-stranded
multi-stranded
linear
non linear
Bohemian Rhapsody is a single-stranded script. It follows the journey of
the members of Queen in chronological order. Its single-stranded since it
is a non-fictional film. Bohemian Rhapsody is linear, since the events that
occur in the film is in chronological order.
Type
i.e.
fiction
non fiction
This film is non-fiction- all the events in the film and the events written in
the script are real things that have happened, eg, the band itself, their
agent, their lives, the songs and deaths.

TV SCRIPT: Eastenders
Type of script: (Choose from: news broadcasting, documentary, soap, drama)
Language The language in Eastenders is elaborate code. This is because of the
specific settings and actions of the characters. The language is
straightforward and descriptive.
Format & Layout
Conventions specific to this
type of script
Speech is center aligned, but no use of the Courier font. There are scene
headings but the page numbers are not included, and the capitalization of
character names is included. No use of “fade in”.
Three-act script The three-act script in Eastenders is different to movies. Since it is a soap
opera, the last plot will not be the finale, normally the last plot will be a cliff
hanger to make the audience curious and want to watch the next episode.
Angle of article I think people around the ages of 30 – 50 will appreciate this show more
than others. The reason for this is because of how long Eastenders has
been running from. The people around the ages 30-50 probably grew up
watching Eastenders because of their parents or they watched it on their
own accord, so they are glad that this show has not ended and there are
still some classic characters involved in Eastenders.
Style
i.e.
single-stranded
multi-stranded
linear
non linear
Eastenders is multi-stranded- there are multiple stories going on at once to
keep the audience focused and intrigued and to update and follow different
characters at the same time. Eastenders is also linear, everything that
happens in the show happens in chronological order to again, keep up with
the characters.
Type
i.e.
fiction
non fiction
Eastenders in fiction, there are fictional characters who are not based on
real life people and their lives are events that did not happen in real life.
Although, Eastenders have added some real life events into their show,
like the Queen’s death and the corona virus.

RADIO SCRIPT: Tony Teardrop
Type of script: (Choose from: drama, current affairs, news)
Language I think the language in this script is restricted code. The reason why is
because the text is hard to understand with little context- we are
immediately in a scene with 3 characters we don’t know where very little
description is used regarding what they look like, what they’re doing or
where they are.
Format & Layout
Conventions specific to this
type of script
Use of scene headings but no use of “fade in”. Courier font is used
sometimes, and every character’s name is in capital letters. Tony Teardrop
is also missing the page number in the upper right hand corner.
Three-act script In Tony Teardrop, the three-act script isn’t as clear as others. There is a
beginning middle and end, but the set-up, confrontation and resolution
aren’t that clear. We follow Roz, and her struggles with substances and
trying to maintain her relationships with her children and friends. Although
that can be described as this script’s confrontation, Roz doesn’t end up
getting better, or fixing her relationship with her children.
Angle of article People who enjoy hints of comedy and stereotypical British scenarios
(probably British people), etc. substance abuse, and the phrases that are
used in the script like the word “corker” for example.
Style
i.e.
single-stranded
multi-stranded
linear
non linear
This script is multi-stranded. It goes back and forth between different
characters and scenarios which can be hard to keep up on. Tony Teardrop
is also non-linear. The confrontation is shown first (Roz surviving out on
the streets and having arguments with her daughter, Carly), and we don’t
stick to one story, we go in between different stories with different
characters, it is not told in chronological order.
Type
i.e.
fiction
non fiction
This script is fictional- it is about made-up characters and is not based on
real life people.

VIDEO GAME SCRIPT: Bratz video game
Language In the Bratz video game, the language is elaborate code. The actions of
the characters are clear as well as the context of what is currently
happening.
Format & Layout
Conventions specific to this
type of script
This script does not include the correct font, no use of “fade in” and no
page numbers. The Bratz video game does include the characters name in
capitals and scene headings, but the speech is not center aligned.
Three-act script There isn’t enough text in the Bratz script to include a three-act script,
there is no set up, confrontation or resolution. The game play and text is all
positive since the target audience is young. *
Angle of article Since the Bratz doll is very popular amongst young girls in between the
ages of 8-14, the Bratz script will probably excite most girls of this age
demographic. Young girls of this age will be happy and excited about this
game since its based on the plastic dolls they love. People over the age of
15 will probably not be as appreciative or excited as the young girls since
they are too old to play with Bratz or what the movies and it doesn’t
interest them.
Style
i.e.
single-stranded
multi-stranded
linear
non linear
The Bratz script is single-stranded. It follows one narrative of models
posing for a director. This script is also linear. It tells the short story of
Bratz posing in chronological order.
Type
i.e.
fiction
non fiction
This game is fictional- it is based on the popular plastic doll franchise Bratz
and not on real life events.
