Beta Club<br />The Dundee-Crown Beta Club is accepting new members and membership renewals until Sept. 30th. <br />If you were a member last year you MUST renew your membership. <br />Be sure to attend the first general Beta Club meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9th to pick up your application and to hear about the exciting plans for this year. <br />The meeting will be in the Annex at 7am and repeated at 3pm. <br />Completed applications should be returned to Ms. Gard or Mrs. DiCosola in the Counseling Department.<br />

Use Student Portal to check grades, view class schedules, and more!<br />How to log on to Student Portal<br />Go to the quick link on the Dundee-Crown website.<br />Type in your User Name which is your Student Number (Student ID). This number can be found on your schedule and your student ID card.          <br />The default password is <first name initial> <last name initial> <birthdate MMDDYY> format (i.e., John Smith’s default student account password would be js091985, if birth date was September 19, 1985). <br />
  4. 4. CALLING ALL SOPHOMORES<br />Your help is needed to create and present "Cityscapes"--our entry in the D-CHS Homecoming Parade. We will be working on parade items after school on Wednesday from 3 until 5, and Thursday from 3 until 3:45. Plan to join our "Cityscapes" walking unit in the parade on Sunday, September 19. All Class of 2013 students are welcome. See Ms. Blanchard in Counseling for further information.<br />

Elgin Community College classes!<br />If you are a senior in the top 10% of your class or have a 3.25 GPA, you can apply to go to ECC second semester.  <br />You can select any of these three Gen Ed courses:  Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology and Western Humanities.<br />Tuition is paid by District 300 so all you have to pay for is your book.  <br />If you are interested make an appointment to see your counselor and get further information.<br />

  7. 7. ‘Take Charge!’ Tutoring<br />After-school tutoring Monday through Thursday from 3:15-4:15. <br />Sign up in the media center at the designated computers for tutoring and the activity bus. <br />We hope to see you Taking Charge of your education at ‘Take Charge’ soon!<br />
  8. 8. Seniors! College!<br />Representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be here on Thursdays during CUP and Lunch periods to help you with the college admissions process. They will be located in the college and career center in the counseling office and will have laptops available if you would like to work on completing your online applications.<br />
  9. 9. Teen Parent Program<br />The Teen Parent Program Group will meet during CUP in room M4 on Thursdays. All pregnant and parenting students are welcome and encouraged to join us each week for this informal support group. Any questions please contact Alison or Sonja at 224-484-2308 or 2307.<br />

Attention sophomores and juniors:Want scholarships???<br />The PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test for National Merit Scholarship Corporation’s scholarship and recognition programs. <br />The PSAT will take place on October 13 at D-C.  <br />Registration is open from Sept 7-Oct 6 and costs $25.  Please register with Mrs. Bober in the guidance office.  If you have any questions, please see your counselor.<br />
  11. 11. WYSE<br />Club kick off meeting after school Wedensday 9/15/10 at 3:00 in room 101. We need to determine a regular meeting time for the year and determine our group captains for practices.<br />
  12. 12. Beta Club Members!!<br />There are many volunteer opportunities available to those of you who have turned in your applications and dues. Check with Ms. Gard in Counseling to sign up. Opportunities include helping at Parkview Elementary on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30, helping at Freshman Parent Night Sept. 22nd, Swim Meet Timers are needed on various dates in Sept. and Oct. and many more. See Ms. Gard for details.<br />

  19. 19. Congrats freshman volleyball!<br />Congratulations to the Freshman Volleyball Team for their 1st place finish at Hoffman Estates High School this past weekend. The Chargers were led by Kaylee, Audrey, Emily, Tessa, Alissa, Morganne, Felicia, Carly and Kirsten. Great job ladies!!! <br />

  21. 21. Prom Committee<br />The D-C HS Prom Committee is looking for students interested in fundraising and other activities to help lower the cost of prom. The Prom Committee meets every Friday morning at 7 am in Room 117. All are welcome! We have big plans to lower your prom ticket cost this year, but we need your help! See you there!<br />

  26. 26. College Fair Fieldtrip<br />The Dundee-Crown Counseling Office is sponsoring a College Fair Fieldtrip on October 20th to be held at the Cliffbreakers Resort in Rockford. This trip is open to all Juniors and Seniors. Free transportantion is available for the first 100 students that sign up. See your counselor for more information and permission forms.<br />

  33. 33. Scholarships!<br />Seniors: check the Scholarship Bulletin on the D-CHS Counseling website. New scholarships are arriving weekly!<br />

ECC Tech Prep and Middle College students<br />You will need to leave class early in order to arrive on time for your classes in Elgin on late arrival days.<br />ECC Tech Prep students should leave class at 11:45 a.m. and Middle College students should leave at 1:15 p.m.<br />All ECC students will need to show their ECC sticker on the back of their Ids to their teacher in order to leave early. See Mrs. Gavigan in the College and Career Center if you have any questions.<br />
