Stayner Collegiate Institute Announcements - September 9, 2016

  1. 1. Dragon Boat Anyone? Think of paddling a really big canoe while dressed in a crazy costume. SCI has the opportunity to enter a team in Simcoe County’s first High School Dragon Boat Championship. The event is taking place the morning of Thursday September 28th on Barrie’s beautiful Kempenfelt Bay! The race is open to all high school students in Simcoe County. Each team consists of 21 students to paddle (10 boy and 10 girl paddlers + 1 drummer) No experience is necessary – just some enthusiasm and willingness to learn! Teams are required to participate in 2 practice sessions prior to the event and we need to declare our interest to participate TODAY If you and a group of your friends are interested in demonstrating the strength of the Spartan – please sign up on the list posted outside of Student Services.
  2. 2. • This is a reminder that the Ontario Universities' Fair (OUF) is coming up at the end of September. Don't let your students miss it! • The OUF is the only event where you can see all 21 Ontario universities in one place. It's a once-a-year, free event where attendees can talk directly with senior university faculty and representatives. • The OUF takes place September 23-25, 2016, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Admission is free. • Publicize this event to your students by posting it on your school website, mentioning it on the morning announcements, putting it in school event calendars, or tweeting it to your students. • New this year: Register for an OUF Passport – the easiest way for students and counsellors to share contact information with the universities. • Registration is now open. Students are strongly encouraged to save time and get their Passport in advance: • Hope to see you at the Fair!
