Employment History
Consultant March 1994 to Present
Worked as a contractor providing custom training solutions to various Fortune 500 and smaller
accounts. Customers include Monsanto, Abbott, Motorola, Zurich American Insurance and
various smaller companies. Applications for which training materials were delivered included
retail, industry specific and custom applications which I developed. These applications included
PC based programs such as the Microsoft Office suite, visual basic, Documentum, XMS and
several applications created in house by companies or customized for a company by a software
vendor. My job was to learn the programs, create a custom manual or extrapolate key information
from an existing vendor manual and create a more user friendly manual. In all cases the objective
was to determine the customer needs for specific knowledge of the application and develop
materials that would target that knowledge. Various training aids such as games, exercises and
quick reference cards were also created to reinforce topics learned.
Worked as part of a team of engineers for Encoat, a joint partnership between Caterpillar and
Eisenmann Corporation. This teamed was charged with the task of developing a paint line for
tractor parts. She wrote the software to track the parts received, painted and successfully shipped
to the customer as well as track and report production rates. She also developed a billing
application which interfaced with the production application and generated bills for all parts
successfully painted.
Michelle has done extensive custom application development in the Windows environment using
Visual Basic, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. In many instances the custom programs
developed had to interface with other programs such as QuickBooks to achieve the most
comprehensive solution using existing resources.
She developed training materials for the A+ Certification exam and for teaching budding
developers to create their own applications for hand held devices like Palm or Handspring units.
Associate Professor for DePaul University September, 2001 to March 2003
Experienced in the field of technical training focusing on the MAC/PC environment for nearly
twenty years. Michelle has conducted training from one-on-one executive level training to
classroom “company specific” training with 10 students. Applications include Microsoft Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, FrontPage, Documentum, Web Authoring tools including
HTML and XML, ACT!, QuickBooks, Lotus AmiPro, Lotus 123, WordPerfect, QuattroPro, and
the Internet, HTML, Java, Visual Basic, C and Visual FoxPro.

Texas Instruments, System Analyst April, 1989 to March, 1994
Hired by Texas Instruments (TI) as a system analyst responsible for pre and post-sales support
for the Unix minicomputers built by the company. During the course of that time the business
evolved and the business was split into two separate entities: the minicomputer division and the
peripheral products division. Assigned to the peripheral products division. This division sold
printers ranging from ink jet to high end lasers and state of the art notebook computers. New
responsibilities included pre and post-sales support for the sales staff and all customers, training
of the sales force on all new products, training of customers on all TI products, training the sales
force on all software used for sales force automation, maintaining all demonstration equipment,
and developing various training tools and sales aids to help increase sales. Customers included
distributors such as Micro United and Inland Associates, retail outlets such as CompUSA and
Computer City and direct mail companies such as Gateway 2000 and Computer Discount
Warehouse.
During the first year at TI the job focused on Unix and minicomputer systems. Designed and
implemented a messaging system for use at an international artificial intelligence conference
which allowed attendees to communicate with each other via the computer. Assisted sales
representatives and customers with determining system configurations required for customers
business.
Once the division split the focus changed to retail. There was a very great need to make sure
sales representatives and customers alike were kept completely up to date on product
developments. Wrote and printed technical support manuals geared for retail technical support on
the printer and notebook computer products; such manuals were not available from the factory.
They included general information and technical information allowing a customer's technical
support staff to support end users on TI products. Also designed and built four product displays
for use on the shelves in the retail stores to enhance the appearance of TI products. These were
sorely needed in the very competitive retail environment. Demonstration equipment maintenance
required keeping all printers and computers in working order. Maintenance included regular virus
checks on all notebooks, reinstalling software when necessary and diagnosing and solving
apparent equipment problems.
Northrop Defense Systems Division, Software Engineer February, 1985 to May, 1988
Worked for Northrop Corporation which required a security clearance since all work was part of
classified government projects. Was responsible for designing, coding and testing the software
responsible for controlling the circuit board (PWB) test stations used on the production line. The
functionality allowed the user to run a specific suite of tests or test various PWBs. In conjunction
with the software, drivers were written to control the various instruments in the test station.
Appointed to establish programming policies in the group, which allowed for the generation of
standardized software making updates and code changes easier for later programmers.
Pont Data, Inc., Software Engineer May, 1988 to April, 1989
Responsible for the design and development of programs, which decoded live tickers incoming
from major stock exchanges around the country and reformatting this information in a graphical
user interface that was easily interpreted and accessible by paying customers.
Keycom Electronic Publishing Company, Software Engineer Aug., 1983 to Feb., 1985
Began by developing many database tools and utilities to assist the production department in the
control of the database. The initial skills acquired led to a promotion to Quality Control Analyst. In
this capacity was responsible for creating a software library system controlling all delivery system
software prior to its release into production. This included designing utilities to facilitate the
automatic updating and testing of all code as it was modified by the programmers and ensuring
that each programmer followed guidelines in developing and structuring each program making
future modifications by others much easier. This insured the reliability of software once it was
released to production.
