OBJECTIVE / SUMMARY:
I aim to expand my horizons and take on new challenges in the areas of software
applications, systems, and environments – through the full software development life cycle. I
have a seasoned background in software development including 10+ years’ experience with
web-based applications (C#/ASP.Net, Perl/CGI, Javascript, VBScript, HTML, XML), data
collection desktop applications (C++, SQL, VB), and shell scripts (Bash). I have developed
and supported multi-threaded software which entailed complex event handling and rule
evaluation, from both procedural and object-oriented (OO) designs.
I have an extensive background in all areas of software development, having worked on
software components from feasibility study, right through the code development, testing,
integration, delivery, and support. I am also well-versed in system resiliency – from
ensuring systems have no single point of failure, to “hot-standby” environments where
duplicate servers function in either a production or standby mode. Nearly all my dev and
support work has been in large-scale mission-critical computing environments.

Department: Hospital Rule-Based Systems (HRBS)
Development and support within the Hospital Rule-Based Systems (HRBS), a rule based
database processing environment. The HRBS environment includes multiple data repositories
(databases), rules engines, user interfaces, workflow automation components, and many
tools for analytics and report processing. The user interfaces are mostly web-based
applications plus one desktop SSIS/ASP application (RIS - Respiratory Information System).
In addition to the classic ASP VBScript code within RIS, the other interfaces include software
written in ASP.Net (C#), C++, Javascript, and other languages. The HRBS team develops
and supports these many interfaces and systems within an Agile development environment.

The following chronology lists the positions I held at Unisys Corporation and describes my
qualifications and responsibilities in more detail:
Lead Software Engineer (2012 - 2015) + Senior Software Engineer (2007 - 2012)
 Support and enhance existing C++ application designed to retrieve system usage
information from proprietary mainframe via TCP/IP and store it in a Microsoft Access
database. Design, code (in Visual Studio) and test new features for the application,
and code, test, and deliver fixes for customer-reported problems. Build the application
for delivery using InstallShield installation software.
 Create, enhance, and support a specialized version of the open source Webmin web-
based application for system (Linux) administration. Webmin is a Perl/CGI application
with built-in capabilities for executing external shell (bash) scripts, updating Linux
configuration files (including network config, DNS, NTP), making Linux system calls,
and executing client-side Javascript scripts.
 Technical writing: write and maintain sections of various user manuals and company
internal documents supplied as part of Unisys server and mainframe systems. For
example: ClearPath Dorado 8300 Server Installation, Administration, and Operations
Guide; ClearPath Dorado 4300 and 6300 Server Hardware Platform Definition
Reference Manual for Service Representatives; and ClearPath Dorado 8300 Server

Senior Software Engineer (1996 - 2007)
 Design, code (C#), and test Active Server Page (ASP.Net) application for remote
Windows Registry access. Application also contains server-side scripting (VBScript),
client-side scripting (Javascript), and HTML. Application provides capability to
retrieve, create, and update specific registry keys and values.

product. Product also interfaces with small Java applets.
 Coordinate, script, perform, and track software build & installation process for
specialized Visual Studio produced, multi-language product. Builds performed using
Wise installation software.
