Maximising your Influence as a Leader by Refining your High Level Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Skills
As Project Manager, your ability to influence and engage a variety of internal and external stakeholders is vital to your effectiveness and the success of
your projects. Furthermore, as you move into senior leadership roles where the stakes are high, your capacity to communicate effectively becomes even
more important. Technical excellence is essential; you still have to deliver the ‘right outputs’ in the ‘right way’, but achieving this is helped enormously by
building and leading a motivated project team, and fostering strong relationships with key external stakeholders.
Exceptional communication is the cornerstone of effective project leadership and is a crucial skill to ensure the long-term profitability, sustainability,
productivity and quality service delivery of all organisations. Women often possess a natural ability to communicate so this innate strength should be
harnessed and employed at all stages of leadership to gain support, engage stakeholders and deliver successful projects.
This interactive workshop will provide a proven toolkit of communication and stakeholder engagement strategies, equipping female leaders with the skills
needed to build relationships and achieve success.
Developing a competitive edge in leadership through communication:
• Communicating with clarity and precision - Strategies and techniques
• Finding confidence and assertiveness in difficult conversations and situations
Stakeholder engagement skills for leaders:
• Developing perspective flexibility for managing a variety of conflicting stakeholder priorities
• Techniques for optimising stakeholder engagement
• Optimising your leadership by mastering exceptional communication and engagement skills
Leveraging your engagement for career success:
• Communicating your projects’ successes to senior management
• Reputation management with internal and external stakeholders

driven and high pressure environments”
Project Managers in all industries are often faced with
intense demands on their time as crucial deadlines
approach. Additionally, progressing into more senior roles
inevitably involves the pressures of handling increasingly
complex and high-stakes projects. It is therefore crucial for
women aspiring to success to build a resilient mindset. In
this session Laurice will draw on her years of experience in
project management in companies including BP, Thiess and
Bechtel to discuss:
• Techniques to reduce stress and build a resilient culture
• The high performance mind

Besides communicating clearly and precisely on program plans

are well informed and involved in the program. Recently Katya
successfully established, managed and implemented Qantas’
new uniform strategy which maximised customer and employee
engagement. Today she will explore:
• Engaging and communicating with different stakeholder
groups

effectiveness”
Given the varying priorities that Project Managers face on a
daily basis, the ability to manage and resolve conflict both
from within the organisation and with external stakeholders is
an essential skill to master. Identifying and resolving problems
early before they escalate leads to stronger relationships
and greater efficiency. Drawing on their successful careers,
this panel of field leaders, will today provide guidance on
negotiating effectively and communicating assertively in order
to resolve conflict. Explore:
• Picking your battles – Lessons from experience

A key reason why many women do not progress to senior
leadership positions is the conflict between responsibilities and
interests outside of work and the intense time commitment
required to achieve success. In this session, women at different
stages in their careers will discuss their personal experiences
of balancing work and personal life whilst achieving their career
goals. No one has all the answers, but this discussion will allow
delegates to explore a variety of strategies to:

ABOUT THE EVENT
In recent times, women have increasingly advanced into Project
Management leadership roles in various industries and organisations.
However, Project Management remains a largely male-dominant
environment with many complex and dynamic challenges facing women
in their career progression. In particular, project leaders now need to
rapidly change from a technically-driven perspective to an emphasis on
developing people and culture. For female project leaders, this means
going beyond growing technical knowledge to harnessing strong
leadership capabilities in order to achieve project excellence.
The 4th Women in Project Management Leadership Summit 2016 is
designed to provide proven techniques and practical advice for women
advancing in Project Management leadership. Featuring a range of
seasoned female project leaders from across industries, delegates will
take away a roadmap for achieving project and career success.
9.00 - 4.30

navigate increasingly uncertain, ambiguous and complex environments with confidence.
During this practical and interactive workshop, participants will have the opportunity to network and take away the tools required to enhance their effectiveness and
impact as a key decision-maker. This empowering workshop will provide a roadmap for any female leader in Project Management aspiring to reach the executive level.
