3. Robotic Vehicles
 Stanley is an autonomous car created
by Stanford University’s Stanford Racing Team
in cooperation with the Volkswagen Electronics
Research Laboratory (ERL). It won the 2005
DARPA Grand Challenge, earning the Stanford
Racing Team the 2-million-dollar prize.
 STANLEY is a Volkswagen Touareg outfitted
with cameras, radar, and laser range finders to
sense the environment and onboard software
to command the steering, braking, and
acceleration.

 Waymo LLC is an American autonomous driving technology
development company. Waymo offered the only
commercial self-driving car service that operated fully
autonomously, without safety backup drivers in the vehicle.
 Tesla Autopilot is a suite of advanced driver-assistance
system features offered by Tesla that has lane centering,
traffic-aware cruise control, self-parking, automatic lane
changes, semi-autonomous navigation on limited access
freeways, and the ability to summon the car from a garage or
parking spot.

Speech recognition is the modern technology used to
recognize spoken words and accordingly find information. The

6. Autonomous Planning & Scheduling
 A hundred million miles from Earth, NASA’s
Remote Agent program became the first on-
board autonomous planning program to control
the scheduling of operations for a spacecraft
(Jonsson et al., 2000).
 AEGIS (Autonomous Exploration for
Gathering Increased Science) is a software
suite that will imminently be operational
aboard NASA's Curiosity Mars rover,
allowing the rover to autonomously detect
and prioritize targets in its surroundings, and
acquire geochemical spectra using its
ChemCam instrument.

 IBM’s DEEP BLUE became the first computer program
to defeat the world champion in a chess match when
its bested Garry Kasparov by a score of 3.5 to 2.5 in an
exhibition match (Goodman and Keene, 1997).
 AlphaGo is a computer program that plays the
board game Go . It was developed by DeepMind
Technologies which was later acquired by Google.

by algorithms.
 Facebook uses machine learning and deep learning
to detect facial features and tag your friends.
 Twitter is using AI to identify hate speech and
terroristic language in tweets.

 Blue River Technology is a California-
based machinery enterprise with a focus on
designing, producing, and selling computer-vision-
based robotics that can be used to aid the agriculture
industry.
 The company has created a machine called "See &
Spray". The machine uses computer vision and
artificial intelligence to detect, identify, and make
management decisions about individual plants in the
farmer's field so that plants which are essential to
farmers and consumers are not unintentionally
destroyed by herbicides.

 Plantix is a mobile crop advisory app for
farmers, extension workers and gardeners.
Plantix was developed by PEAT GmbH, a
Berlin-based AI startup. It can diagnose pest
damage; plant disease and nutrient
deficiencies affecting crops and can offer
corresponding treatment measures.
