2. THE NEWS QUIZ
■ I have decided to analyseThe News
Quiz website as the style and format
of the show is something I want to
emulate. It also connects to the
textual analysis I carried out when
listening to episodes of the show.
3. ■ The News Quiz website uses cross
platform convergence. We understand
that the show is produced by the BBC – in
particular, Radio 4.This is evident through
the branded logo and the blue colour
scheme which is typically identified with
Radio 4.The logo can also be visable
throughout the whole page
On the bottom of the
homepage, there is a section
titled ' 'elsewhere on the
BBC' to encourage the
audience to interact with
other elements of the BBC.
4. ■ The News Quiz has a
'contact us' page to make it
easy and accessible for the
audience to interact with
the show.The three options
of email, post and social
media cover a wide
audience demographic as
they dont just have the
option of social media –
therefore, older audience
memebers who arent
advanced in technology are
still able to get involved.
5. ■ Below the fold, the content on this
section on the webpage is all
primarily linked toThe News Quiz.
There are some 'behind the scenes'
types of videos – which I will try and
emulate in my own work. There are
also activities which the audience
can get involved with e.gThe Fake
News Quiz.
There are also videos on and about the
presenters, making the audience feel as
though they know them and makes as
intresting reads for the audience.
6. VALUES, BELIEFSAND ATTITUDES
■ The website is very light-hearted and
comedic – much like the style of the
show. It has multiple ways of contacting
the show and therefore are wanting to
promote audience interaction and
believe it is important. There are also
links to other comedic panel shows that
they believe the auience would like.
■ The extra videos help to educate the
audience with things such as spotting
fake news etc.
7. IDEAS
■ I will also take lots of video footage
and perhaps create articles to for a
behind the scenes section for
audience entertainment.
■ The website doesn’t include any
easter eggs or intertextuality as they
are entertaining the audience whlst
educating them – following their
public service remit.
■ From this, I will include easter eggs
such as links to competitions or ways
to 'tell your story' submissions to
make my website more interesting.
