2. Anchor Bay Entertainment
Anchor Bay is an independent American home entertainment
production company. As it is a small budget independent film
company, 20th century fox distribute all of their films. This was
an agreement that was formed in 2004. The reason I have
chosen to use this company for production is for the reason
that they specialise in horror film making and then get 20th
century fox to distribute many of these films which is a
working relationship that I particularly like
Anchor Bay Entertainment was first
founded in 1985 as Video Treasures and
its head quarters is in Beverly Hills,
California.
3. 20th Century Fox Distribution
As I would like Anchor Bay Entertainment to be involved in
the production of my film, 20th Century Fox will be involved
in distributing my film as most of Anchor Bays films are
distributed by them.
20th Century Fox home entertainment was established in
1976 and is best known for distributing the two highest-
grossing films of all time - Titanic and Avatar.
4. The dead

The dead was distributed by Anchor films in
the UK and USA. The film was released on
August 10th 2010 in the UK and starred Rob
Freeman, Prince David Oseia and David
Dontoh. It is a horror film which has the
storyline of an American mercenary, the sole
survivor of a plane crash, having to run
across Africa, fighting the living dead.
I can compare my film with ‘The dead’
because of the horror genre that they both
share. Also because the character in ‘The
dead’ will be coming across zombies and
later on in my film events will occur to do
with super natural forms as the hotel guests
begin to be mysteriously attacked and
eventually killed.
5. Marketing
There is a skull in
this poster which
could connote
death. However
there is a map
within this skull
which shows that
there may be
some type of
geographical
adventure
involved.
The hands
reaching up may
be those of the
zombies, slight
give away that
zombies will be
involved.
6. Beautiful boy

Beautiful boy was distributed by Anchor
Bay entertainment in the USA. It was
directed by Shawn Ku and starred Michael
Sean, Maria Bello and Kyle Gallner. The film
was released on the 3rd June 2011.
The film is about a couple in an
emotionless marriage with their son away
at collage. They knew he was unhappy at
collage but are distraught to learn that
their son was the mass murder at his
school, killing 17 professors, fellow
students and then himself.
I can compare my film with ‘beautiful boy’
as the storyline is about a family and loss
of a family member.
7. Marketing
This is the poster for
‘Beautiful Boy’
Opening weekend
$16,162 (USA)
shown on 4 screens.
Money spent
on marketing
is important
as this
process is
about
attracting the
target
audience to
the film.
Image of the
ideal family
in the ideal
environment
– slight irony
Distraught
looking parents
makes the
audience ask
why this is.
Emphasis on
the four star
rating of the
film.
8. Why Anchor Bay should distribute Insoluble
By looking at the films that are distributed by Anchor Bay
it is clear that they have produced and distributed,
alongside 20th century fox, many low budget successful
horror films – therefore I feel that Anchor Bay would be a
suitable distributer for Insoluble. I feel that a lot of films
produced and distributed by Anchor Bay are very similar to
Insoluble, especially ‘The Dead.’ This is because they share
the super natural forms in a horror genre that appear in
my film. Because of this I feel that Anchor Bay attracts a
similar audience to my target audience so therefore would
be an ideal distributer for my film.
