2. • The main character in the film is a teenage girl so it will be
attractive to other teenage girls. They will be able to relate to them
especially if the person watching is a dancer, they’d be able to form
a personal relationship with her. It’s set in a school environment so
it’s a place that my target audience recognise so, again, they can
relate to the location so they are more drawn into the movie. Also
the hip-hop music would attract young people because it’s modern
and a popular genre of music with my target audience. It’s
something that my target audience listen to on a regular basis and
it’s upbeat so it’s something that would put them in a good mood.
The logo is eye catching. It’s simple and doesn’t use too much
colours as that is more likely to appeal more to young children and
look messy to my target audience. The colours are bright and bold
so they stand out and catch the attention of my audience.
3. • Marketing promotes and sells my movie to the audience. I can use a
variety of marketing methods such as posters on buses and billboards, as
well as TV trailers and adverts in magazines. I think that the best way to
attract my target audience is through marketing through the internet in
viral marketing campaigns. Viral marketing, or viral advertising, is
marketing using pre-existing websites, social networks and other
technologies to advertise and increase awareness of a product. As my film
is a dance movie, a good way to get my movie viral is by doing something
like a flash mob in several locations, recording it and putting it onto
YouTube so people can see and become interested in seeing the film.
Because my target audience are teenagers, they will be using sites such as
YouTube and social networking sites on a daily basis. If my video becomes
popular, then a lot of my target audience would have seen or at least
heard of the video. Over 400,000,000 videos are watched each day on
YouTube and YouTube is popular with my target audience and to people
who fall out of my target audience, meaning that viral marketing could
widen my audience and bring in more secondary audiences.
4. • Film festivals are also a good way for my movie to receive
publicity. Film festivals show screening of the film usually
in one location and more recently have started to show
films outside. A film festival such as BFI London Film
Festival would be good because it shows British films as
well as films from all around the world. It’s the largest
public film event and is held by British Film Institute and
sponsored by The Times. BFI and The Times are both well
known so I can work with them to get my movie a lot of
publicity.
