Soter Analytics Trial - Reducing Injuries
1. Soter reduces injury risk by 70% during trial
Soter Analytics trialed its connected health system at a leading mining operation in
Australia. Soter collected and analyzed data from digital devices worn by workers and
applied machine learning and AI to provide actionable insights to the individual workers.
The objective was to prove Soter’s effectiveness at reducing the risk of back injuries.
Tested with more than 100 workers: Wearable sensors gathered 29GB of movement
and location data from a range of jobs, roles, and environmental conditions across the
job site.
One-third found to be at increased risk of injury: Soter identified 50,000 at risk
movements, affecting 35% of workers. This enabled Health and Safety personnel to
conduct targeted follow-up actions.
Positive feedback from workforce: Workers reported an 85% acceptance of the Soter
System with zero reports of discomfort or obstruction from the sensors. Most openly
support using innovative ‘safety tech’ to ensure health and well-being at work.
Changed behaviors & reduced risk: Test results showed that Soter’s actionable
feedback to the workers reduced the risk of back injuries by up to 70%. Applying
continuously would lead to a step-function transformation in industrial workforce safety
and productivity.
“With Soter, I realized how I constantly stress
my back while doing my daily work. After the
pilot, I’m working smarter and it’s easier to
get my job done safely and without injury”
