Congratulations! You have made your first step towards joining the Guinness World Records
family of record holders.
Your record application has been received and is being processed by Guinness World Records team.
All applications are individually reviewed by our Records Managers. These records experts determine
what makes a record and how it is measured.
Every record attempt is then assessed by a Guinness World Records Adjudicator, whether in person or
via evidence submitted to us. When a record attempt is verified as successful, the record holder will
receive an official Guinness World Records certificate to confirm their record holder status.
We offer this completely free-of-charge service to anyone, anywhere in the world who wishes to
attempt a Guinness World Records title. This standard free service takes four to six weeks to process
your application.
Should you require a faster response you can upgrade to priority processing which ensures that our
Records Managers will review your application within three working days. The Fast Track service costs
£450/$700 and is a speedy processing service only, it does not guarantee that your application will
be accepted as a record category. Read more about the Fast Track processing service and upgrade
your application here: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/set-a-record/fast-track/
YOUR APPLICATION
Your application has been assigned to a Records Manager who will personally assess your application
and confirm the outcome by email in four to six weeks.
The decision by Guinness World Records will be one of the following:
1. We accept your application under an existing record category; or
2. We accept your application and create a new record category; or
3. We do not accept your application exactly as proposed, but we suggest another record category
which may be suitable; or
4. We reject your application and outline the reasons for this decision
For some applications further investigation is required before we can make a decision. In such
instances we will keep you informed of the process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does it cost to set a Guinness World Records record?
Nothing! Guinness World Records offers the same free-of-charge record service to everyone,
wherever they are in the world. Costs only apply if you wish to Fast Track the processing of your
application or want a Guinness World Records Adjudicator to be present at your event.
Does Fast Track priority processing ensure my application gets accepted record?
No. The fee is only for the speedy processing of your application. With Fast Track, an application
is personally reviewed in three working days by an expert Records Manager, who will email their
decision on the suitability of your application. It does not guarantee Guinness World Records will
accept your application. The Fast Track processing fee is paid per application, not per individual, and
should an application be unsuccessful we cannot refund the processing fee or transfer it to another
application.
Does having a Guinness World Records Adjudicator at my attempt ensure that I will
be successful?
No. Our Adjudicators are independent and unbiased record judges. They apply the same rigour and
discipline to every record they assess, whether in person or via evidence that has been submitted to
them.
Why must my application be submitted in English?
We receive applications from all over the world. It is not possible for us to have every piece of
documentation translated into English ourselves, or to have Records Managers who can speak every
language.
Do I receive payment for attempting or achieving a world record?
Guinness World Records does not pay anyone to attempt a record or for being a record holder. Our
global family existing record holders tell us that the prestige and international recognition of being a
certified Guinness World Records title holder is sufficient value.

Do you pay for the equipment or staging of a record attempt?
Guinness World Records is an independent arbiter and holder of world records achievement. As
such we must remain completely impartial from every record that is attempted and as such cannot
be involved in the set-up or organisation of any record attempt. Any costs incurred as part of a record
attempt are the responsibility of the record applicant.
Where can I buy equipment for counting or measuring my record attempt?
The Guinness World Records Store, https://store.guinnessworldrecords.com/, is the new one-stop-
shop for all your record-breaking event needs. From official measuring and counting tools to verify
your record attempt, to event staff branding and gifts and giveaways, our store has all your event
requirements covered.
