Education Curriculum of Israel and the Philippines
1.
2. In Israel, their education system
is made of three tiers:
Primary Education, Grades 1-6
Middle School, Grades 7-9
High School, Grades 10-12
Compulsory education takes place from
kindergarten through 12th grade.
3. Types of schools in Israel:
To fit the demands of its diverse population, Israel offers four
types of schools: state secular schools, state religious schools
(Yeshiva), Arab schools, and private schools
4. Types of schools in Israel:
State secular schools teach a standard curriculum.
This includes history, mathematics, languages, science, and
literature. These schools emphasise focus and rigour in study.
Many state secular schools specifically design their programs to
prepare students for bagrut examinations for university.
5. Types of schools in Israel:
Yeshiva schools have a similar curriculum to state secular
schools, but they supplement education with studying the Torah.
Torah study is the study of the Torah, Hebrew Bible, Talmud, responsa, rabbinic
literature and similar works, all of which are Judaism's religious texts. According to
Rabbinic Judaism, the study is ideally done for the purpose of the mitzvah
("commandment") of Torah study itself.
6. Types of schools in Israel:
Arab schools teach students in Arabic and supplement Israeli
education with Arabic history. Arab schools are known to have
strict rules, and instructors have absolute authority in the
classroom. Although the Ministry of Education tries to provide
high quality education for all students, Arab schools receive
fewer government funds than other schools.
7. Types of schools in Israel:
Private schools include boarding schools and international
schools. Depending on the school, instructors may teach in
English.
8. In the Philippines, education
system is made of three tiers:
Elementary School,
Kindergarten to Grade 6
Junior High School, Grades 7-10
Senior High School, Grades 11-12
By law, education is compulsory for thirteen years
(kindergarten and grades 1–12)

Comprehensive Education System of Israel
The Israeli Ministry of Education is the
branch of government charged with
overseeing public education institutions in
Israel. The department is headed by the
Minister of Education, who is a member of
the cabinet.
Council for Higher Education is the state
body responsible for Israel's higher
education system.
K to 12
At the basic education level, the Department of
Education (DepEd) sets overall educational
standards and mandates standardized tests for
the K–12 basic education system.
At the higher education level, the Commission
on Higher Education (CHED) supervises and
regulates colleges and universities.
The Technical Education and Skills Development
Authority (TESDA) regulates and accredits
technical and vocational education programs
and institutions in the country.

Comprehensive Education System of Israel
Most hours of the school day are devoted to
compulsory academic studies. While the subject
matter to be covered is uniform throughout the
system, each school may choose from a wide
range of study units and teaching materials,
provided by the Ministry of Education, which best
suit the needs of its faculty and pupil population.
With the aim of enhancing pupils' understanding
of their society, each year a special topic of
national importance is studied in depth. Themes
have included democratic values, the Hebrew
language, immigration, Jerusalem, peace, and
industry.
K to 12
K-12 is a program that covers kindergarten and 12
years of basic education to provide sufficient
time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop
lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for
tertiary education, middle-level skills
development, employment, and
entrepreneurship.

Primary Education
Grades 1-6
Age 6-12
Compulsory
Here pupils learn the academic basics, as
they prepare perhaps for the form of
secondary education they may follow.
Elementary School
Kindergarten to Grade 6
Ages 4-12
Compulsory
In kindergarten, the pupils are mandated to learn
the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors through
games, songs, pictures and dances, but in their
native language; thus after Grade 1, every student
can read on his/her native tongue.
12. ISRAEL PHILIPPINES
Primary Education
Israel is a complex society with tensions between
state and religion, and the cultural rights of Jews
and Arabs. Notwithstanding this, the state
curriculum is standardized by the ministry of
education and culture who allow few exceptions.
The academic year runs from September through
to July 6 days a week, and the teaching medium is
either Arabic or Hebrew. Education is compulsory
and free (although some materials must be
bought).
Elementary School
In Grade 1, the subject areas of English and Filipino
are taught, with a focus on "oral fluency".
In Grade 4, the subject areas of English and Filipino
are gradually introduced, but now, as "languages
of instruction".
The Science and Mathematics subjects are now
modified to use the spiral progression approach
starting as early as Grade 1 which means that every
lesson will be taught in every grade level starting
with the basic concepts to the more complex
concepts of that same lesson
14. ISRAEL PHILIPPINES
Middle School
Students receive 24 hours of instruction
from an educator per week. Most of the
day is spent in academic study, and
students learn history, mathematics,
science, language and humanities.
Junior High School
This level is now compulsory and free to
all students attending public schools.
There are two main types of high school:
the general secondary school, and the
vocational secondary school. In addition,
there are also science secondary schools
for students who have demonstrated a
particular gift in science at the primary
level as well as special secondary schools
and special curricular programs.
16. ISRAEL PHILIPPINES
High School
The majority of secondary schools
offer academic curricula in science and
in the humanities leading to a
matriculation certificate and higher
education. Certain secondary schools
offer specialized curricula, which lead
to a matriculation certificate and/or
vocational diploma.
Senior High School
Senior high school is the 11th and 12th year
of the new educational system. It will
serve as a specialized upper secondary
education. Students may choose a
specialization based on aptitude,
interests, and school capacity. The choice
of career track will define the content of
the subjects a student will take in Grades
11 and 12. Senior high school subjects fall
under either the core curriculum or
specific tracks.
