Activation by pair discussion
1. Choose a person from the class room whose data is not
familiar to you already. Make a pair.
2. As a pairs, tell each others about data you collect during
your PhD work. Make sure you tell at least the main data
sources.
3. After discussion, tell others what you find out.

Horror Stories
• Trainer tells first a story about a PhD student who lost his
data because the laptop was damaged. There wa no back-
ups and one years work was lost.
• Trainer asks participants to tell about their disastors. After
disastor stories, trainer asks how the researhers has
changed the way they work after disaster.
• In the end trainer tells how the first situationa (described by
trainer) could be easily avoided.
• This method works if there are senior researhers among
participants.
