To whom it may concern:
I would like to offer my wholehearted recommendation of Margaret O’Reilly. In my eight years at St. Luke Lutheran
Church and School, in the role of Associate Pastor, and later Senior Pastor, I had the unique opportunity to know Margaret
as her coworker and as her direct supervisor. During those years I observed Margaret in both of her roles, as executive
secretary and as business manger. She excels in both.
As executive secretary, Margaret is the face of the congregation and I was always confident with her in that role. A church
office receives a wide spectrum of visitors, from homeless people seeking assistance to salespeople making cold calls. She
always strikes the right tone with every visitor.
Margaret’s work in this position was superior. Not only were the documents she produced precise and well-designed, she
also filled the role of teammate. I frequently sought Margaret’s feedback and commentary on important letters and other
communications. Her responses were always helpful.
However, it is in her position as Business Manager that Margaret’s most impressive qualities are most evident. In this
capacity she did not receive much direction from the pastors. She ran the entire business operation for our church and
school, including payroll, taxes, insurance, and cash flow.
Here Margaret displayed a drive and desire to excel and serve her fellow workers and employer. She often took the
initiative in investigating options that could improve the operation at St. Luke. She usually knew our contracts and what
out insurance policies included better than the agents we dealt with. Her attention to detail and work ethic also shone in
this position.
In general I would say that Margaret is personable and friendly, completely trustworthy, reliable, and hardworking. I would
not hesitate to hire her again. She will be an asset to any organization.
Sincerely,
The Rev. Steve Bagnall
