handside of the twocharacters. Thisshowsthatthey were followingthe rule because youhave to
picka side ontwocharacters a stick tothroughoutthe scene.Thisisdone to make sure that the
audience doesn’tgetconfusedwherethe charactersare inthe scene.
In myfinal filmthe Fallen we usedthe180degree rule byalwaysstayingonthe blankside of the
maincharacter inthe opening.Whenwe were filming, we didn’texplicitlysaythatthishas to be
done butwe justmade sure that we followedthe rule because we understoodthe rule andits
importance inthe film.

whichme and my groupcreatedtitle witha3d effectandwe alsousedcreative transitionunlikethe
simple cutsinthe preliminarytask. Alsointhe Preliminarytaskwe hadto addmusicand take out
some audioparts fromthe preliminarytaskfilm.Thiswasn’tdone tothe bestof our abilityandthats
whysome of the audiocan be heardcuttingoff and no soundinsome parts while onsome partsit
was intendedtobe soundlessintermsof diegeticsoundinthe shot .We addedmore soundeffects
like the screaminginthe startand the openingmusicall the wayto the door slammingandopening.
Thisshowsprogressinmy editingskillsbecausethe filmlooks andsoundsmore professionalinour
final film.
4. Range of shots
In the thrillerfilmwe have usedalargerrange of shotsthan we didin the preliminarytask.For
example we onlyusedsome overthe shouldershotsmedium, close upsandlongshotsinour
preliminarytaskcomparedtoourfinal filmwhichusescantedangle shotsandlow andhighangles
shotsas well aspans and.These shotseachgive a differentperspective of the scene andhave
differentmeanings.ForexampleA cantedangle/DutchTiltusedinafilmmeansthatsomethingbad
isgoingto happenand pannedshotsusuallygive the audience awidershotof the environmentso
the audience cansee the locationbetteraswell ashavinga more continuousshotsothe actioncan
continue.
