3. WHY WE USE SOLAR ENERGY ?
1. Remote instalation of plant.
2. Pollution of Environment is not possible.
3. Convenient and flexible to generate small amounts of power.
4. Less Maintenance, Long life.
5. By using of Renewable Eneygy hence it reduces global warming.
4. INTRODUCTION
The plastic solar cells uses nanotechnology and also solar cells are able to absorbs the sun's
invisible infrared rays.
Plastic solar cells are more efficient than the normal solar cell Which is almost of five times
more than the current solar cell technology.
The working of this type of solar cells is same as the conventional solar cells but these solar
cells are of small size and absorb the rays from sun’s radiation.
Because of their small size and light weight, they exhibit unusual properties.
5. INFRARED PLASTIC SOLAR CELL
Plastic solar cell can convert the sun’s radiation into electric energy even in a
cloudy Atmosphere
The plastic material uses nanotechnology and contains the 1stgeneration solar
cells that can absorbs the sun’s invisible infrared rays.
Nano particles which are used in this plastic Cell are Quantum Dots which are
Mixed with a polymer to make the plastic that can detect the infrared rays
6. In this Solar cell the plastic is used ,Even though the Plastic is an insulator but by using of
Nano technology in plastic solar cells which contains first generation solar cell help then
to utilize even sun’s infrared rays which are invisible.
7. CONSTRUCTION OF SOLAR PLASTIC CELL:-
In this the construction of solar plastic cell, the Cadmium rods are
used.
Plastic Cells consists of Nano rods made of Cadmium Selenite (Cd
Se) and these cells are binded with Poly-3hexylthiophene (P3HT).
In semiconducting polymer, Nano rods (200-nm thick) are inserted.
These inserted Nano rods are the heart of a plastic solar cell.
Coating of Aluminum can play a key role in Back Electrode.
9. WORKING OF SOLAR PLASTIC CELL:-
Cadmium rods which are used in plastic solar cell are absorbs light from the
sun’s radiation which is invisible.
By absorbing light it generates the electron and electron hole vacancy in the
rod which moves like an electron.
Hence the Electrons travels towards the Aluminum Electrodes.
In plastic it is also known as the hole carrier which is formed by using Nano
technology
Hence the hole is conveyed to the electrode after transferring to plastic , at this
moment the current is generated
11. ADVANTAGES:-
As compared to the normal Solar cells , the plastic solar cells are more
efficient say approximately 30% .
It is very Flexible and Roll Able.
These are in compact in size.
It forms light structure.
Easy installation.
Less weight.
12. DISADVANTAGES:-
• Plastic cells are more expensive than other kind of solar cells.
• As exposed in front of the sunlight, the life span of plastic cells becomes
relatively short.
• The main requirements of plastic solar cells are continue and constant
monitoring and also requires high maintenance which is difficult to handle.
13. APPLICATIONS:-
• It is used in Hydrogen Powered Car ,on the top of the car which is called as roof.
• It is used in Light House for ocean navigation.
• It is used in disposable solar panel poster.
14. IMPROVEMENTS:-
• Light Collection can be improved in plastic cells and concentrationlevel can
also be enhanced.
• Nano rods can transfer electrons to the electrolyte more quickly and directly
as they are closely packed. So this can also be improved.
• Improvement in absorption rate of nano rods of different different colors to
span sunlight spectrum.
15. CONCLUSION:-
• Solar plastics cells are more effective than the conventional solar cells.
• On cloudy days also these plastic cells can work.
• In future, cost of plastic cells can be reduced with the help of upcoming
upgraded technology.
• Infrared radiations can be exploit with help of solar plastic cells.
