• LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Students learn the importance of inventions
and inventors. They change the world.

8. SIMPLIFIED MEDIA
• Read about these special young women.
Malala Youzsafzai is incredible. In Pakistan, she could not go to school because
she is a woman. But she is strong and now she finished university. She is a model for
all girls.
Anne Frank was also very special. She was brave because she hid with her family for
years during World War II. Her life was short, but she wrote a book about her
experience as a Jewish girl. She was very smart.
Describe Malala. Describe Anne. Are they similar? Are you like them?
10. SIMPLIFIED SUPERIOR
• Nostradamus lived in France in the 1500s. He studied many languages and
medicine and he was very smart. He entered the university when he was 14 years
old. And he had a special talent: the ability to predict the future. He became very
famous because of this. Even today some people still believe that what he said 500
years ago can happen in the future.
• Do you believe that some people can predict the future? Why or why not?
12. SIMPLIFIED BACHILLERATO
Humans have lived on this planet for about 2 million years. During this time,
humans have created many things; some with a positive impact, some with a
negative impact. Vaccines have saved lives. Technology has helped us to
communicate. But new war inventions like weapons can hurt us. And some
inventions made in factories produce toxic waste that makes us sick. We are
responsible for our home, planet Earth. We must take care of it.
