1. Narrative
The movie starts with an establishing shot of the location; highlighting
its gist in the film, followed by a non-diegetic music playing at the
background. In view there’s a pavilion located at the middle of massive
rectangular pool connected with a Minar through a causeway. The area
is covered by trees all around. The shot then cuts to closeup shot of
antagonist facing his back towards camera, wearing a black shalwar
kameez along with black shawl, smoking hookah while his guard stands
beside him. His attire and body language indicate his influential
background.
The next scene introduces us to the main character ‘Rumi’ sitting by the
wall at the upper portion of Pavilion; the medium high angle shot make
her seem trapped and powerless. The shot then cuts to the close-up of
Rumi’s face; her expressions indicate her helplessness. Next, loose
frame shows Rumi coming down the steep, lofty and unclean stairway.
She’s dressed in a fully jewelled deep red bridal attire. Low-key lighting
is used throughout to create mystery. It then cuts to the closeup shot of
antagonist covering his face, Enigma continues to build as his face
haven’t been fully revealed as of yet. Next up a big close POV shot
(representing the importance) of gun being loaded; followed by a click
(diegetic-sound) of loading gun is shown. Agog is created that whose
hands are these.
Next is medium shot of Rumi standing inside the Bara Dari, looking at
the surroundings, trying to find a way out. Her body language
designates that she is panicky and facial expressions shows that she’s
worried. Dark atmosphere stipulates hidden danger.
Shot then cuts to long take of Rumi going away from camera towards
the Pavilion. her facial expressions show relief as fresh air touches her
2. skin. Up next there’s a closeup pan shot of Rumi’s feet as she runs. Her
Feet are soaked in bright red colour of henna. Scene then cuts to
medium long shot of Rumi on the causeway facing her back towards
camera; moving away from the Pavilion. The camera now faces Rumi,
the use of loose frame shot show that she’s alone and makes her seem
vulnerable. A gunshot (diegetic-sound) is heard, upon which Rumi is
seen falling down and sitting on her knees. Yet again, enigma is added
that who have shot whom? Is it Rumi who have been shot or someday
else?
