2. COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
what is Collaborative Learning?
Collaborative learning is a method of teaching and learning in which
students team together to solve a problem, complete a task, or create
a project.
3. COLLABORATION AMONG LEARNERS
• Collaboration learning focuses on the process of working together.
• Collaboration is a philosophy of interaction and personal lifestyle.
• The students are in charge of obtaining the additional source material.
• There is a positive interdependence among members of a group.
• Collaborative learning groups share common goal. They work
collaborative to realize the goal.
• Promote student faculty interaction and familiarity.
4. • A collaborative learning does not select its group leader. Rather
leadership is shared among its members.
• In collaborative learning groups, students not only accomplish the
academic task but also develop and practice social skills.
• Enhance student satisfaction with the learning experience.
• Promotes positive attitude towards the subject matter.
• Builds self esteem in students.
• Students help and encourage each other with a view to ensuring that all
the members of the collaborative group accomplish the assigned task.
6. JIGSAW METHOD-COLLABORATIVE
APPROACH LEARNERS WORK IN A SMALL GROUP
ALLOWS INTERACTION
WORK INDEPENDENTLY
DEVELOP LISTENING, ENGAGEMENT
AND EMPATHY SKILLS
EFFICIENT WAY TO LEARN CONTENT
7. PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES TO
CONSTRUCTIVISM
The curriculum shall use pedagogical approaches such as constructivism, inquiry-based, reflective,
collaborative, and integrative.
CONSTRUCTIVISM
• We construct meaning based on prior knowledge and experience.
• Learning is social and active.
• It is important that we know where our students come from NOT to judge them , but to be able to provide
the most suitable learning environment for them to discover what needed to be learned and un-
learned.
• Celebration of learning, ANECDOTAL RECORDS, Oral presentation, Peer assessment, Portfolios,
Rubrics, Simulation, Project based learning assessment in a CONSTRUCTIVIST CLASSROOM.
8. INQUIRY BASED APPROACH
• Raising questions
• Learners acquire knowledge by INVESTIGATION.
• Formulate questions investigate build understanding CREATE MEANING /NEW
KNOWLEDGE.
• Posing problems or scenarios and let student discover the answer
• It aims to connect WHAT IS LEARNED IN SCHOOL TO REAL LIFE SITUATIONS,
thus it is more on developing problem solving and discussions of issues in the Real World.
REFLECTIVE APPROACH
• Steping back and analyze their experience to improve future learning.
• MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION effective use of instructional materials that utilize a
wide range of electronic media, allowing learners to reflect after the teaching learning
process.
• Reflective approach gives emphasis on REPITITION after the learners reflect on their
SKILLS or LEARNING.
9. COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
• ONLINE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING –Activities reflect current and
future needs responsible individuals in a technologically advanced society.
INTEGRATIVE APPROACH
• Integrative teaching-Is a well organized anchored on real life situation that
includes learners interests and needs creating a variety of meaningful activities
and learning experiences.
• Thematic teaching
• Theme helps the students see the meaningful connections across DISCIPLINES
or LEARNING AREAS.
10. CONCLUSION
• We have moved, considerably in a direction of developing an
understanding of constructivist pedagogy based on constructivist
learning theory. However there are a number of aspects in thinking
about constructivist pedagogy that require strong and rigorous work,
approached with constant attention paid to the possibility of ideological
bias.
