2. Project Objective
Compare two different setups by determining the steady state surface temperature on
one side of each setup and the steady state heat flux for each setup.
Setup #1: A double pane window consists of two pieces of glass that enclose an air
space
Setup #2: A window consists of two pieces of glass that enclose an air space with an
additional layer of aluminum foil
- Neglecting radiation, and assuming air enclosed between window panes are
stagnant
4. Methods
1. Directly measure surface temperatures of each setup (inside & outside)
2. Hand calculate convection coefficients
3. Calculate heat flux for each setup
4. Analytically solve for surface temperature of each setup (inside & outside)
5. Numerically solve in COMSOL and compare
