2. • The caste system in India forbids marriage outside
the caste. However, inter-caste marriages have
gained acceptance due to increase in education,
employment, middle-class economy and
urbanisation.
• According to a survey in 2014, about 5% of
marriages in India are inter-caste.
• In the state of Uttar Pradesh, the Government
offers a cash award for inter-caste couples.
• The Central government has decided to give Rs
2.5 lakh incentive to every inter-caste marriage .

• From the time of Kings and Queens, caste system as
been practiced., it was customary to marry in the same
castes. If anyone disobey the rules he was confined to
severe punishments.
• Whole community was barred from keeping any relation
with the family where inter caste marriage had taken
place.
• Religions practiced were so strict that sometimes boy
and girl were hacked to death by their own family
.History reveals efforts have been made by various social
reforms and socialists To change the mind set of Indians.

create awareness among the people of the hazards of not
accepting the inter caste marriages.
• It is the responsibility of the younger generation to make their
elders realize that the rigid caste system is morbid and has a
dark future.
• Government has also issued some incentives.
• The qualities of the person you love should be highlighted in
front of the family members.
• Try to learn the each other’s castes.

• A successful marriage is not dependent
on same caste or religion . It depends on
mutual understanding & true love.
• Once this is achieved, caste And religion
is secondary issues.
• When God created man & woman, he
has not assigned any caste on them. He
just created us & we created the caste
system.
• There Are many examples where two
people from different background and
lifestyle spending their happy married
life.

11. CONCLUSION • As responsible citizen we need to encourage
the thinking of Indians that we should accept
Inter caste marriage.
This practice of caste discrimination is manmade
and those who follow it are termed “unmanly” by
lord in Gita. So, if you are a Hindu and you think
you are upgrading your religion and dynasty by
not supporting inter caste marriage, then you are
WRONG.
Hence, in Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna
has clearly supported inter caste marriage.
