2. My production company name is 28th Ocean. I wanted to create a name that was individual to me and my interests, and
displaying what I am. The 28th comes from the date of my birthday, and the Ocean comes from my love of the Sea and water. The
ocean also represents nature and how everything should flow together, and the boat representing the company.
Development.
This is my first attempt at creating a logo for 28th Ocean. I liked the colour combination
and how the orange white and blue compliment each other, however I wasn’t fond of
the overall shape. It didn’t really look like an established logo, and if it were to appear
on t-shirts or a website, I think it would be too complicated and wouldn’t seamlessly fit
into a space like a logo should do. There is also a lot of blank space which is taking up
unnecessary room within the logo.
After some feedback, I decided to change the shape of the logo to a circle, and
I think this works a lot better because it looks immediately more like a real
logo, and everything seems a bit more cohesive overall. I kept the same
concept as I had with my first logo, however changed the angle of the boat and
the font and size of the text to fit the space more. In the first version of this
logo I kept the text black, however when experimenting with the orange text I
felt it complimented the colour scheme better. Over all I think this is my
favourite logo, however I still feel as though there is a bit too much going on.
3. Here, I started going more experimental and stepping away from my original
concept, to see if I could find one that looked better and worked better as a logo. As
you can see from this first logo, I really simplified it, using only a wave, and the
numbers 28TH in a transparent font. I do really like this logo, and I think it would be
easy to add to t-shirts or websites, however I don’t think it represents the brand as
much as I would like it to. The wave is very prominent, and this looks as though it
would be used better as a logo or name for a water sports company of maybe a
beach café, as it gives definite beachy vibes.
Underneath I have another type of logo I experimented with, where I used my
original logo concept and embedded it into the new one. I like this idea however I
think I have struggled with the font of the text, as it looks less creative and quite
bland. Although of course I didn’t want to go too OTT with the text, I could have
looked more text options before settling for this one, however this was just an
experiment so I can always change it.
