Working Title:
My title is called Tempo, which is short for temporary. I chose this name because this magazine
covers film fashion and music, things that are constantly changing and moving all the time. I
thought it was a good name because its short a snappy, and sounds modern and memorable.
Audience:
My audience are 15-27 year old women who may be art students, work in the managing of bands
and fashion agencies, who are interested in the arts, such as couture, vintage, and celebrity
fashions, a mixture of genres of music, however mainly focussing on smaller and upcoming bands,
contemporary, photographic, and graphic art, and renewable fashions and art. The magazine is
going to be very focussed on these topics, with issues of today and culture included in issues
talked about within the articles. These topics such as climate change, politics that are changing the
world as we know it such as feminism, awareness of mental health ect. All are important to this
age group, who are interested and vocal in activism and about the issues of today that affect them
and the whole world.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
So far, as we haven’t done much print yet, my skills haven’t really developed too much, although I
am really comfortable in using the basics such as adding filters to my images, cutting out images
using tools such as the magnetic lasso and the magic wand tool. I hope however in this to gain
more skills in the application InDesign as I’ve never really used it before and I don’t have the
basics down yet, but because it’s a really useful bit of software, I really want to build more skills.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my project is to create a new magazine that encompasses artistic, musical, cultural
and fashionable content that will interest the women, as well as men if they are interested,
although my magazine is more aimed at women, of today. My initial plan was to combine the two
magazines British Vogue and NME, as those are my two favourite magazines, as well as throwing
in other parts of my interests such as film and TV. I feel like my concept does just this in a youthful
and contemporary way that real young women will be interested in and empowered as well as
inspired by. One of my concepts for the magazine is that there are 3 issues every month one being
more focused on fashion, one more on music and the other on film, however still including articles
involving all of these genres, giving writers and readers the chance to explore different genres or
gain more information on things they are really interested in. For example a women could work in
the fashion industry but be really interested in fashion in film, so she could by these two issues of
the month. Or if a woman was interested in everything she could by each issues and learn and
read about all of these genres.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will evaluate my work by looking at what went wrong and what went well, what could have been
improved and how to do better next time, and I will discus my strengths and weaknesses in how I
used the applications and gathered my resources such as my photos and how I wrote my articles.
