2. During planning, research, construction and
evaluation we had used a variety of
different technologies. Most technologies
were used during research and construction
stages using different software's.
3. Planning:
During the planning stages we had used a range of
sources of technology to list our idea’s for our film.
Firstly we had begun planning using Microsoft Word to
write a short summary of the story we had in mind.
Many alterations had been made for example, our
first draft had contained violence so we adjusted the
story to be more scary but without the need of any
violence.
We had also used Word to create a base outline of our
planning schedule and who will be researching on
what area such as Books, Internet and Movie Websites
to gather information.
We both had also used Word to create a list of what
we would need to complete by a specific date.
I was able to keep in touch with my team mate through
email to keep up to date and re-schedule if needed to.
5. Research:
In addition, for research I had used YouTube to
collect data on popular short horror films.
YouTube is a famous worldwide broadcasting
website so I was able to find a variety of horror
films and reviewed them.
YouTube had also allowed me to think of new ideas
for our film and idea’s for our trailer later during
construction.
We had also used YouTube to watch video’s on camera
techniques and White Balance. This helped during our
filming process and we had made alterations on the
lightning as it was important in our horror film.
Furthermore, I had used YouTube to watch video’s on
other media students answering evaluation questions
and this had helped for my own evaluation.
6. Internet Movie Database
(IMDB)
IMDB is one of the biggest movie
database websites and was a great
source of technology to gather
research for our film. It allowed us to
search films in the Horror sector and
find blockbuster movies that had
created high amount of Gross. From here
I had watched trailers of the most
popular Horror films and read audience
reviews.
IMDB also allowed me to get an insight
of what actors directors had chosen for
their film and given me ideas on what
kind of actors I should be choosing.
There are also posters of Horror films
which had also helped to give idea’s for
our own poster. Most of these being the
image of the Villain on the front and the
colours mostly being red and black such
as “The Amityville Horror”.
7. Google & Survey Monkey
Google itself is a search engine and had helped to
gather information on different Horror posters and
film trailers.
Survey Monkey had been our most important source
of technology as this was to help give us an idea of
what the audience would like to see in a Horror film.
We had set up 10 questions on Survey Monkey asking
about lightning, SFX, locations, narrative and Actors.
From here we was able to gather vital information
and apply it to our film during construction and
editing.

9. Other:
Other sources of
technology I had used to
gather research were
books and media
magazines. From here I was
able to round up
information on conventions
and what most Horror
films contain.
I had also used BBM
(Blackberry Messenger) to
gather more information
on what my audience
would expect by asking
people on what they
would like to see in
Horror film.
10. Construction:
We had used Final Cut Pro in order to
construct our film. I had been able to master
the use of Final Cut Pro and learn the
different tools and their purposes such as
the Razor Blade tool to cut up the sound and
film clips.
Final Cut Pro is an impressive software and
had been a better use than iMovie as there
are better effects and more professional
tools to create our film.
During the beginning stages it had been
difficult to use Final Cut Pro but through
time, we had learnt how to master it. It had
been vital as editing is an important factor
for our film.
After using Final Cut, we converted the film
into QuickTime Player which allowed us to
convert the film into a particular format so
it may be uploaded on YouTube or Vimeo etc.
11. Most of the work done had been completed
on the iMac and used Freecom hardrives to
store all work such as our film, poster,
sounds and radio trailer.
We used Pop Filters during our radio trailer
construction to recreate a voiceover for our
radio trailer as the speech we was
previously going to use hadn’t worked
properly.
This was all put together using Logic Pro
with added SFX.
12. Evaluation:
For evaluation we had used
Blogspot to create a blog
and update all our work
and research and planning
onto the website. The
blogging website allows
other people to read and
comment on my blog and my
work.
I also used powerpoint to
write up all my work and
upload it onto SlideShare
and used the embed code and
pasted it onto my blog.
