4. Trees are vital to every human being and
the environment. Aside from giving people
oxygen to inhale, here are additional reasons
why humans need trees:
5. 1. Trees are sources of food and
nutrients. Trees that bear fruits
contribute essential nutrients needed
by the body.
6.
7. 2. Trees provide lumber for shelter,
furniture, and heavy construction
such as bridges, harbors, and mine
shafts.
9. 3. Trunks and branches of trees not used
for lumber can be used as fuel. This is
very common in rural areas where
electricity and LPG are expensive to use.
11. 4. Trees provide raw materials for paper,
hard boards, soft boards, and corks. The
machine for the production of newsprint using
wood pulp was invented by inventors Charles
Fenerty from Canada and F.G Keller from
Germany in 1844.
15. 6. Trees provide materials used to manufacture
perfume. Aromatic fruit rinds, husk, and flowers of
fruit-bearing trees are utilized in the manufacture of
scents for perfume.
19. 8. Trees protect the environment by reducing
erosion hazards; recycling water and nutrients in
the soil; acting as wind breaks during typhoons;
and minimizing global warming.
