4. WHAT IS SOCIO CULTURAL?
A society is a number of interdependent organisms
of the same species. A culture is the learned
behaviors that are shared by the members of a
society, together with the material products of such
behaviors. The words "society" and "culture" are
fused together to form the word "sociocultural".
Society- a large group of people who live together in an organized
way, making decisions about how to do things and sharing the work that
needs to be done.

objects that together form a people way of life.

attitudes, behavior, and values in society. It is closely related to population,
lifestyle, culture, tastes, customs, and traditions. These factors are created by
the community and often are passed down from one generation to
another.
SOCIOCULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Socio-cultural development with the help of these tools develops human intelligence and
cognition. For example, one culture teaches children to play with toys, while the other
encourages them to play outdoors. Children from both cultures adapt to what their cultures teach
them.
SOCIOCULTURAL TRENDS
are patterns that are found within human culture and human interaction. The
sociocultural trends of a society change over time and are often influenced by
environmental, technological and social means. In the past, different regions had their
own sets of sociocultural trends. While in some ways that is still the case, the
invention of the Internet has led to a growth of interconnectedness, which has resulted
in an increased number of sociocultural trends being observed world-wide.

FOUNDER OF SOCIOCULTURAL THEORY
• Learning has its basis in interacting with other people, and social
interaction is key to learning and proper development
• Most of a child’s cognitive skills evolve from social interactions with
parents, teachers, and other more competent associates.
Psychologist Lev Vygotsky believed that parents, caregivers, peers, and the
culture at large are responsible for developing the brain's higher-order functions.
According to Vygotsky, human development relies on social interaction and,
therefore, can differ among cultures.
Cognitive skill-is an ability that involves the use of your brain or cognitive functions.

5. What is the trend in lifestyle of the people?
6. What is the confidence level of people about their status?
7. How many opt to leave the country if given an opportunity?
8. What are our strengths and weaknesses as a nation?
15. 1. Who are we as people?
According to sociocultural thought, human activity like learning and
behavior are impacted by individual, social and contextual issues. Humans
are considered to be social and reflexive in nature and this causes
human thought and behavior to be altered by the complexities of that social
world.
2. What are we as people?
The sociocultural perspective seeks to understand why people act
as they do based on the influences of their social and cultural
group memberships. According to the concept, people are
largely influenced by authority figures in their particular societies.
16. 3. What are the prevailing attitudes and values of people in
relation to social participation and partnership in governance?
4. What culture traits and complexities of the Filipino are considered
part of social capital?
The major findings fall into three general themes: first, the pervasiveness in Philippine society
of network contacts with close family and friends, or bonding social capital; second, the
paucity of associational ties, or bridging social capital, among adult Filipinos; and third, the
asymmetry of social capital, in that those who bond more and trust more are more likely to
come from the ranks of the privileged.
The people of the Philippines are generally friendly and Harmony-seeking. For them, family
is the most important of all (family oriented). Other Filipino values would be honor, group
harmony, diplomacy, good behavior, courtesy, tolerance and good manners. When it
comes in participation. People must participate in the decision making process of
government. Without people’s people participation there can be no democracy. When
people vote elections they elect their own people.

Lifestyle can refer to the non-chosen aspects of life as well.

trends of a society change over time and are often influenced by environmental, technological and social means.
In the past, different regions had their own sets of sociocultural trends. While in some ways that is still the case,
the invention of the Internet has led to a growth of interconnectedness, which has resulted in an increased
number of sociocultural trends being observed world-wide.

18. 7. HOW MANY OPT TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY IF GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY?
Reasons Why Many Filipinos Want to Leave the Philippines
1. Families Are Already Abroad
With growing diaspora population, it is not surprising that we now have more friends who have family
members abroad, migrants or temporary workers. At some point, Filipinos separated due to economic
reasons wish to reconnect again. It’s either the one working overseas goes home, starts a business and
reunite with the family. Or decides to continue their overseas careers and bring their families there.
2. More Job Opportunities Abroad
This could be the single most common answer if we run a poll. Opportunities abroad could mean more
available jobs, less discriminating recruitment process, better wage and working conditions or a lower tax
rates. This might be an indirect play to what’s going on in the Philippines: contractualization, age
discrimination, high withholding taxes and low minimum wage rate. If there’s a better alternative, Filipinos
are quick to take advantage. Sadly, this often means separating from family.
3. Getting Hopeless in the Philippines
The Philippine government often gets the flak for various things such as corruption, incompetence,
mudslinging and other signs of an unstable management of a country in dire need of big time revival and
redemption from decades-long agony. There’s progress, but people are getting impatient. Deciding to leave
the country in favor of economically stable, accept aspiring immigrants and provide a better road map for the
future.
19. 4. Find a Different Experience
Not all those who leave the country are in search of greener pastures. Some who decide to flee are
already well-off and have secure lives in the Philippines. They just want to experience something
different and their restless, wandering thoughts yearn for more. Not that they hate the Philippines,
but more of seeing what’s “out there”. They study abroad, long-term backpacking, learn different
cultures and experience unprecedented adventures.
5. Bad Experience in the Philippines
There are Filipinos who leave the Philippines not because of their attraction to go abroad, but to avoid
what’s in the country. They might be broken-hearted and chose to live and work abroad to heal
heartaches, or their families were at risk such as political persecution, or avoiding an old grudge.
6. Escape Persecution
Unfortunately going abroad is also the way to go for crooks who try to escape persecution for the crimes
they committed in the country: corruption, violence and other offenses. By staying outside of the
Philippines — especially on countries that don’t have extradition agreements with our country — they can
virtually assure themselves of their safety.
For every Filipino who queues at the airport bound for some random foreign land and settle there, there
are plenty of reasons why they chose to do so. Whether or not returning back to the Philippines is in their
plans, their hearts remain truly Filipino.
20. 8. WHAT ARE OUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
AS A NATION?
The positives and weaknesses of the Filipino have their own causes in
many types such as: the home environment, the social environment,
culture and their language, their history, educational system, their
religion, economic environment, the political environment, mass
media, and leadership and role models. Goals. The Filipino should
develop: sense of patriotism and national pride--a genuine
sensitiveness, love, their appreciation, and concern to the Philippines
and the things Filipino; a sense of the common good--the ability to
seek beyond selfish in terms of interests, in the sense of justice and a
sense of outrage at its violation; a sense of integrity . an aversion
toward corruption in the society and an avoidance of the practice in
one's daily living; the importance and habits of patience and hard
working; and the value and habits of self-reflection and analysis, the
making of spiritual values as the centre of humanity and an emphasis
upon essence rather than on.
